A full(?) day in Amsterdam
... left lunch it was raining, so we went just across the road to the Amsterdam Tulip Museum, which will almost certainly win the award for the cheesiest museum on the trip. (It was free with our passes). Luckily, the rain stopped while we were inside, so we had beautiful sun when we left. We had to take a train to the next museum we planned to go to, and when we got off, we realized we were near the Heinekin Store (different from the Heinekin Experience which we plan to do tomorrow). ...

De Hollandse Agenda
... slanken van het stel zijn snel aan de andere kant maar Sjoerd besluit zich door de spijlen van de brug te wurmen en komt bijna vast te zitten. We lopen wat vertraging op omdat Sjoerd zeker 5 minuten probeert zijn fietsslot te openen met zijn huissleutel. Uiteindelijk komen we allen die avond veilig thuis….en krijgen alleen op zondag de rekening gepresenteerd… gelukkig heb ik nog een pakje Colombiaanse koffie over…

On the way to the airport, there are storm clouds in the distance that seem to be lifted directly out of the 17th century paintings. There are farm fields in shadow with sun beaming through on some green fields. It is just like a Jacob van Ruisdael ...
Day 53 - Amsterdam
... for lunch and had a nice salad sandwich (baguette) and made sure we sat in the sun to keep a bit warm.
Then we visited the Rijksmuseum which houses the Rembrandt collection. We are not great art lovers but really enjoyed this. The paintings are displayed really well – on walls that are painted warm colours; a bit like in a big house. Amazingly, you can get very close to the paintings and look at the details.
