Tara here: So we made our decision to go to Morocco on a whim and a semi-cheap return plane ticket. The flight there was not as cheap, the flight back was very cheap. Ironic really. The day of our flight we spent a great day in Barcelona (see details in upcoming Barcelona entry) and turned up at the airport in plenty of time for our midnight flight to Marrakech. We stood at the counters where we were to check in (they were not open yet) and the time started to pass. 2 hours to our flight, 1h4...

I tell you. Many middle eastern, lots of Arabic and even MTV music channels,
news, soaps, the whole shebang. All of this is quite obvious but I was more
interested in the types of soaps they had. Some were slapstick comedies and
others were serious ‘Days of Our Lives’ types. Then we discovered a Looney Tunes
channel and I realised just how patriotic and embarrassing they had ...
From the fun flats of Marrakech...we made our way to the High Atlas mountains for well...mountains of magnificent hiking and views.
Jebel Toubkal stands at 4200m above sea level and at that is the highest most point in northern Africa and also a bit of a mission! We made it up the mighty mountain in a few days and did some sleeping, sun burning and Scrabble in there as well. An absolutely incredible adventure!
Back down and all set to embark on a road trip to Fez!

... reminds me of India and all the experiences i had there that live on in my mind but it is an odd amalgamation of the western and traditional. The main square is a magical place where all is alive by night and oh so chilled and interesting in the day.
We did a couple of days exploration of all it had to offer and then onwards AND upwards...

... with a stick….he’s telling the couple in front not to step over the red line until it’s their turn to see the 2 guys in the booth – just heads cause they have low chairs – one of whom is working. Our turn to move forward….I hang ten the red line but, too bad, the line-cop was gone. We decide we’d better meet the policeman/customs officer in the booth one-at-a-time….I go first; no ...
Marrakesh, Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz, Morocco thedicksons... ask if you may take a picture, the answer is almost certainly no. If you get a yes, it is because you've asked if they'd mind. If you ask why, they will tell you, it is against their religion. This is hard to argue against. However, one thing would easily change everything: Lots of people will ask for money if you want to take a picture. Maybe I just misunderstood, did they say it's the prophet or the profit that matters?
Marrakech, Morocco sabaidii... these camels lined up with cloths over their humps. Oh my, this isn't a padded camel that we're going to go around a merry-go-round, this is the real deal! ...and boy was it! We got on our camels (let me tell you, those suckers are hard to get on ....and they kinda hurt if you're not sitting on them properly) they took us around the desert. When I ...

... the new city and find that you have felt at home the entire day. The warmth permeates into your skin, soaking into your heart, and you are thankful. The days have passed quickly, but the moments move in slow motion. Behind those ancient walls and within the labyrinth of pure culture, your life has been touched in a way you are not yet able to describe. But their presence has broken barriers and opened doors to realities and possibilities you forgot existed.
