Arrived a little late & panicked when my rucksack took ages to come out as I hadn't seen it since Port Elizabeth! But all was fine & I met Ashika, the volunteer programme coordinator holding up my name in the entrance. We met the car and headed for the volunteer house in Ambalangoda, stopping for a snack on the way, I had a fish roll & patty thing but the samosa was just too spicy for me to eat! They have me a Plan My Gap Year cap too ...

... I assume, nobody could see in. A flock of mosquitoes added a natural outdoor feel to the surroundings. The bathroom looked like a scene out of a slasher film with a shower pipe held up with string, a floor and walls of dirty, incomplete tiling and a sink which although had running water this extended to running out of the bottom of the sink through the cracked underside and across the floor to drain through a hole in the corner of the room. ...

... as a train flew past, but nothing to worry about. That night the 'resort' we were staying at seemed to get a bit rowdy, or maybe that was just us, but probably the most odd gathering of individuals in our life put together for a party. Anyway, Mount Lavinia.....looks better in photos.
To end the trip we had a 9hr wait at Colombo airport- I'm surprised we are still friends, but we made it, even endured 6 hours at Changi today. Sad ...
