    ... flowers in their hair love getting their photographs taken in these wild meadows, it is obviously a bit of a big deal here, we even saw a young couple on their wedding day having pictures taken in a wild flower meadow today.

    ... the only 4 Westerners out of literally thousands that passed by us that day. One nice Chinese guy who didn't speak English, but had a decent grasp of obnoxious English sign language helped us out greatly to book the sleeper bus to Yangshuo. Bumped into 2 Dutch girls on the bus who were traveling through China and Korea. Bus beds were so small - too short and too narrow to fit in. Ate dried slugs and "human speciality" from a kind Chinese ...

    ... the classic desert - fried cicadas! It was a really nice evening and another great day.

    The next morning I got up at 3am to try and watch the opening match of the world cup only to find out the hostel wasn't showing it after all. Luckily Andy managed to get the TV working so I didn't get up stupidly early for nothing. We have a 24 hour train ride to Chengdu now... Joy. But at least there should be pandas waiting at the other end :)

    Info on the tea ceremony

    ... tea - which was green tea with about 10% osmandus flowers in it. He did this in a ceramic pot. Same thing with throwing out the first pouring. this is called Lady tea because you can use the left over tea to make a face mask with honey - good for skin.

    ... get out and have your picture taken, dressed in Chinese traditional garb. We passed on that because Joan had already done it but we did get our picture taken holding two cormorant birds. That was fun.

    The scenery at the place where we debarked, in Yangshuo, was the same that was on the $20 Yuan. We checked into our hotel and then we went out for dinner. The dinner and lunch the next day were the best meals of the trip. Our restaurant is located right on the river. ...
