... got caught up and had another home cooked meal. For Easter we headed out in the morning to see a service at a well known church in Seattle. More mixed reactions. A good message, but a little too much cut to the chase for me. Felt a little heavy handed. The music was way off the mark for me. Even Ethan asked if the version of God of the City they were singing was the "lame version", I had to agree. Ok, I know I'm critical of churches. But, if you are going to do art ...
Seattle, Washington, United States adeana... out our journey to Vancouver on Monday. By the time we had done this it was about 4pm and by now, almost every shop had shut up for the week end!? What we did find open though was the famous Pike Street market. This was a great place. A buzzing, heaving area of stalls and shops selling everything you could possibly want in life, including a fantastic fish stall where you could sample some tuna, a cheese stall, coffee shops, coin shops, stamp shops (for the avid ...
Seattle, Washington, United States mrsdp... Seattle and an older gentleman from England. They were all very nice and the couple from Denver and the gentleman from England were quite talkative. They've done a lot of traveling and both men had been in the military so they had much to discuss. It was very interesting conversation to listen to. After dinner I went to one of their production shows they have each night. It was fantastic. Boy can these people sing - and dance at the same time!

Seattle, Washington, United States davidreichman... sustainability initiatives along the way. Not long after arriving it was time to share in a potluck and present our program to a joint gathering of University Friends and North Seattle Friends Church (NSFC), a member of Evangelical Friends International. We were exhausted by the time we got back to our little room (and we mean LITTLE). The next day, today, we spent walking around Seattle, using their impressive, ultra-modern-style library and finding a new used book for Ruah and then had ...
Seattle, Washington, United States peaceforearth... to come back into the country of your birth, and you thank heavens for the magical power of the US passport. Not so today. The agent started with all the standard questions, but started to look confused when he scanned my passport, laughing quietly to himself. Oh, no. Then he called over a supervisor, who looked similarly puzzled/bemused, while they had a half-laughed conversation that went something like this - "Well, it's not hitting a birthdate, and it's not ...

Port Ludlow, Washington, United States wanderhitchOh my... I spent all night getting ready for this trip. I took a one hour nap before having to get up at 2.30a. We're leaving in a few minutes - my parents are waking up at 3a to take me to the airport on my mom's birthday! We should get there about 5, and my flight leaves just after 6a. I should be in Montgomery by the early afternoon!
Port Ludlow, Washington, United States wanderhitch... pulled up in his big ass truck and jumped out with ease as he had probably done every day of his life. He was a huge man. "Do you girls need some help?" he asked politely. "We sure do." I replied. He jacked up our car and changed our tire to the sad looking donut in a matter of minutes. I was ever grateful since the last tire I had changed was as a teenager and my dad was there to help me. I was sure I could do it, but it would have taken the better part of ...
