... to boil as the whitebait jumped in a vain effort to escape the predators below them. The irony is that larger predators lurked above. We whipped out our rods and feathers and caught half a dozen good sized mackeral in a few minutes. We plan to barbecue them at Lantic bay tomorrow evening.

So I have just enjoyed a week in New York, staying in Battery Park, the southern tip of Manhattan. My hotel room looked out over the Statue of Liberty. I am not sure how far more removed I could have been from Jogling! My American colleagues were very welcoming though a little unsure as to what to say to someone who has walked 1200 miles. On our way down to Penzance to visit the Minack Theatre we had lunch with Ian's Uncle Wilf in Hay on Wye - we were also pleased that Ian's cousin Gavin and Claire were able make it also. you can see how much Ian looks like his Uncle in the photo!
