... incline of about 0.5 km, we traversed the face of the mountain far left of the tram. Then a steady steep incline for the remainder 1 km, switchbacks through the throat of the value between the rocks. ... lizards...and to our surprise we spotted some wild ostriches camouflaged in with the surrounding scrub. Such an unexpected sight.
On the return trip we stopped off at Boulders beach where we were greeted by lots of South African Penguins (I still think the fairy penguins at home are cuter!) Boardwalks are set up but you can still get remarkably close. Apparently a tourist recently tried to smuggle one out in their handbag?! Bizarre!
Next stop- Morocco. I can't ...
It was the real South Africa! Kind of a big change when you just arrived from Europe ;)
I have to mention that a person who's working with the organisation and actually living in Capricorne was all the time with us, or we couldn't have been able to do that.
The security is really important for the organisation I'm with so we are never alone when we go out of the house. There is always a driver who come to pick us up and then drive us back.
Arrived a tad travel weary and were wandering about outside the airport trying to find the hotel in the dark, luckily we found the local police who loaded us and luggage in their police car and took us to the Hotel Verde - not as close as the ad made it appear to be, but what a great hotel and friendly cops.

The next morning the winds had subsided, and Table Mountain was clear of clouds, so we decided to take the cable car. We purchased tickets in the hotel to avoid one of the lines at the lower terminus and walked next door to the home base of the hop on / hop off double-decker sightseeing bus (in front of the aquarium) and bought a 2-day pass on it.
