Marrakesh, Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz, Morocco cariverga... said come and have a cup of tea with me, first we said no no its ok. Then we realised that it was a morrocan man that we had met last night in the bar that emigrated to Australia so we went and had a cup of peppermint tea with him. Whilst I was using the toilet he invited himself out to eat with us so we went and got ready and went back to meet him, I was having reservations about going for a drink with them after and he said oh we can go in the car for a ...
Marrakech, Morocco traceybelle... went to ring Danielle and then went to look at a restaurant that we had got a flyer for in the day it did not open until 7 so we went to the square in the evening it comes alive with street food sellers and snake charmers Ian made the mistake of taking a picture then that was it the snake man came over and started putting the snake around Ians neck and they were demanding that I take a picture I said no as I know then that they want money and I only had 2d and I did not even ...
Marrakech, Morocco traceybelle... at 2am tomorrow! Fortunately, (1) we now have confirmed accommodations in Fez, and a driver from the Riad Dar Dmana will be there to pick us up at that early (late!) hour. (PS – a riad is a guesthouse with great Moroccan hospitality!) And (2), I am typing this journal entry happily ensconced in a 1st class train cabin, which is clean, does not smell, and (blissfully) is blowing cold A/C on us. We have learned from our past mistakes, you see.
Marrakech, Morocco annalisamurray... more performers come out of the woodwork. There were strolling astrologers, healers, and cross-dressing belly dancers. And storytellers recite tales of ancient times, alongside mobile dentists’ booths that display teeth in jars! For all of this life and rich history, Unesco declared Djemaa El-Fna a “Masterpiece of World Heritage” in 2001.

As we began walking through this massive plaza, passing by a non-descript rug laid out on the ground ...
Marrakech, Morocco annalisamurrayMet a fine fellow from Wales as a hopped off the bus in Marrakech (from Essouria). He was looking for an economical riad to stay and I knew just the place - the riad I'd dumped my rugs at just days prior.

After settling in, I invited him to tag along w/ me to grab a geocache at Menara Gardens. LOL ...
Marrakech, Morocco globalgirl... set up the night food market made me very hungry so we went back to
get Nick and set off for dinner, finally choosing a place where we I had
vegetarian cuscus, shrimp and olives. While we were eating dinner a monkey
escaped from his owner and there was a big hullabalou as the monkey ducked
under stalls and ran, his owner chasing after him. Just as the owner caught him
another monkey on a lead jumped onto the guy to try and help the ...
Marrakech, Morocco shanemilli... desert, I mean desert, I mean 100 degrees outside, I mean no water, I mean cacti everywhere! We stopped half way and they gave us some tea, traditional Moroccan bread (that we have had with every meal to now) and entertained us a bit. They even taught us how to do their call (I guess that's what it is?!?! - it's a sound they make) and do their ...
Marrakech, Morocco dizzybg924... to the journey once inside the walls and onwards to our Riad. I am again concerned that my words will be inadequate to convey this scene accurately. It was sheer mayhem. My initial thought was 'Oh my God, what have I got us into?' I could not imagine that the maze of narrow lanes (derbs) winding through masses of pinkish mud brick buildings (like the wall) crowded with people, not a single westerner though, would lead to ...
