... a tour around a tea factory, learning about the process the leaves go though to becoming what we all buy as tea leaves/bags. I can definitely say that I now have a much greater appreciation for a cup of tea as the process is much more involved and time consuming than I'd expected. We also had the chance to enjoy a cup of tea here, made with the leaves grown locally, and it was very nice. We continued our drive ...

... I was slightly "green" by the time we arrived at our hotel. A wedding was in full swing in the hotels restaurant (12pm) so a table was set up on the lawn below for us to enjoy the view. ... stone mine. The blue moonstone is only found along this particular seam of earth, nowhere else has it been discovered. Predictably, the end of the tour climaxed with a visit to the adjacent jewellery store. With the birthday girl in one hand and a mysterious opaque stone that shimmers blue under sunlight in the other, we were always going to walk out with those earrings. She looks magic in them. We drove deeper into the interior towards the waterfall, ...

After breakfast we get on the way..we stop at the delicious juice place to get filled up and head to a spice garden in the Matale area. Once we get there we get a little tour with explanation of the different uses of various spices in the Sri Lankan traditional medicine. It is pretty interesting and we are having fun but it is too much commercially oriented. The guide, a supposedly medical student, keeps repeating that there is no charge for anything bu donations are ...
