Buenos Aires

Brief stop in Buenos Aires - Friday 29th December - Sunday 31st December 2006 Arrived in style, courtesy of BA, upgraded us all to Club! Not bad for a World Trip! Cool accommodation at Che Lulu Trendy Hotel in the bohemian district of Palermo! We love it! We manage to fit in Argentinian STEAK, WINE & TANGO and an afternoon inspecting coffins in the Recoleta Cemetery (a "village" of tombs) in search of Eva Peronīs grave! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL FROM US. ENJOY 2007.

BA, here I am!!!

I've just spent 3 days in BA, and I'm loving it! Everything about this city is amazing: the atmosphere is so cool, the people are really nice, the shopping is great, the food is amazing, there are so many things to do and see and visit, you can not get bored here! My hotel is in Palermo Soho, which is the "bohemian" neighborhood of BA, with cute paved alleys bordered with trees, and a lot of bars and restaurants everywhere. I've just been walking around since I'm here, discovering the differe...

Back to BA for 24 hours

Back to BA for 24 hours. Session hairdresser/pedicure to get ready for Miami, then visit of Boca, where you can find a lot of souvenirs and presents for Christmas, walk around on paved streets admiring painted buildings and watching street tango shows.

Airlinges, I though lieing Air was bad

Well I have travel far and wide and been to merseyside but never have I tralled on an airline like this. On the way down to Ushuaia, the changed the flight time and never told us. We missed the flight and had to beg to get on the last flight out of town. They kep our luggage in Buenos Aies for 12 days for no reason at all and to top it off on the way back to Buenos Aires they cancelled the flight without putting us on another one. Is it because I have a british passport. Never mind we arrived...

Rainy Days in Buenos Aires

... cakes. They cost us a fortune (in Argentinian terms) and actually didn’t taste half as good as the ones that we can buy for 1 Peso ( about 15 pence) at our local pasteleria (pastry shop). Incidentally, we’ve also regularly indulged in empanadas, which are savoury pasties with various different fillings. Our favourites are humitos, which have a sweet corn filling combined with nutmeg, onion or ...

... of styles and sizes, side-by-side like houses. We walked up and down, taking photos of the more impressive tombs. It was an incredible sight, but a small part of me found it slightly wrong that such large amounts of money had obviously been spent on creating such grandiose structures, for people who are dead. After we had walked through this area, we passed a balcony at ground level that looked below over various rooms on three sub-terranean floors where many, many people had ...

... stinks! So theres the first attempted mugging of the trip, and he ain't having nothing of mine!

We spent nearly 10days in Buenos Aires so this blog would be very long and boring if I detailed all, i'll just say we saw all the sights, San Telmo antiques market on sunday, went shopping on Florida street and saw live tango in the street. Went on a Tour to La Boca and around the Boca Juniors football stadium. A guy in Boca was very excited to meet someone from Wales, he ...

Majestic Buenos Aires

... it turned out I was to get none of that with these guys! It turned out that after a while we had bankrupted the supply of scotch on the plane but by that stage we didn't seem to care. I feel for the people around us who had to endure our frequent outbursts of laughter and loud voices. I think we were the typical kind of people you generally would not want to be sitting near on plane when you're traveling over a long journey. In any case, it ...

Warming up to Buenos Aires

... the door, I stood back as my bearded bro enthusiastically dragged his bags through the port and did the obligatory wow over Elise's loft. We chatted for a bit about his trip but I smelled the American Airlines all over him and was all too happy to let him wash that stuff off in the shower. Emerging squeaky (by brotherly standards), he was allowed a moment to breath before I pushed him out the door into the warm porteno sun. For the next six hours, we hoofed it around the ...
