Day 152 - Train to Galle

A travel blog entry by costin on Feb 28, 2014

... nothing all morning. We just about made it, but the train was absolutely heaving. Think rush hour commuter train and then double it. They were people hanging out of the doors, so with our bags we had no chance! We decided to wait for the next one in an hour, but when that came, it wasn't much better. We just about managed to squeeze on and we were on our way to Galle. The train rolled slowly along the coast, as we jostled for position. It ...

Consequently ...

A travel blog entry by bransdenwebster on Apr 12, 2013

Day 12 - After hearing it was whale watching season we booked onto a tour for our last morning in Mirissa. We managed to get up early for our 6:45 tuk tuk, however, due to our broken watches (no longer such a great bargain) we were unintentionally late...resulting in the whole boat waiting and some stressful Sri Lankan crew. Oops. We set off sharpish, with a cup of tea (always a good start) followed by some fresh fruit. We came across dolphins first, who put up ...

... a wall with aquifers, flowing water running out of pipes, she was happy that there was flowing water as there was no paper in the toilets. She saw a lady leave from the left hand side, thinking it was the toilet, and used it. i said "its not going to be pretty" but it could not wait. However, we later found out that it was the sacred shower where people bathed in the tears of buddha before going up to the temple, and saw the ...
