... back into the car and scuttled back to Golden Gate Park. This time we successfully crossed Hwy.1 into the other half of the park and managed to find a parking place at Stow Lake for a late lunch.

... Vi hade ett stort bord i ett eget rum så det var najs. Kannor av margaritas beställdes in till maten, som var riktigt bra, även om den på bilderna mest ser slabbig ut. For those who remember the films 'Mrs. Doubtfire' and 'The Princess Diaries', it was now my turn on those ridiculously steep San Francisoan streets. I have never seen anything like it in a city before. Jesses home (my first stop) was on a hill of about 80 degrees if you can possibly imagine! It was incredible. ... we stopped to ask "a" what city we were in and "b" where our hotel was. It turned out we were in the right place and the hotel wasn't that far away. It's perfectly located in the centre of town and Wilma and I have had a ball. We met up with Gill and John Fox on Friday for lunch which was lovely. On Friday night Wilma and I found ourselves in a restaurant with no menu. Having gone down the stairs (despite my frowning at Wilma), sat down and sampled the gin ...

... where a British women won and I went crazy much to the amusment of my fellow travellers. I called it a night at about 11 and got a cab to the hotel with one of the german boys and the tour guide. I then managed to leave my camera in the cab. To help me recover from this we decided to get me some milk and cookies and them some bear, another german boy joined us and we walked around the city for about 45 minutes looking for a shop ...

After several going away parties and many wonderful well wishes the adventure Begins.... We caught BART in so no more tearful goodbyes. Our sister-in-law dropped us off in Fruitvale, a proper send off to begin our travel. I can see our favorite Fruit and Veggie store from here, I'll miss my Yemen produce brothers. Last thoughts are of our families and how happy, confused, worried and supportive they all are.

... met Vlo, a friend of me from Munich while Jackie was working. He's studying at Berkley until December. In the evening Jackie helped me with finding housing and we went to have asian dinner which was great. I had something vegetarian with pineapple and cucumber and other vegetables. I would have liked to stay longer but my ride to San Luis Obispo was leaving at the 6th and I have to find a room which is really difficult, but that's on the next post ....
