Penis Cola... hehehe!!!

Our stop for the evening was the town of Peniscola – and yes I laugh every time I say it! Hee hee!!! It had a long sandy beach and the old fort town was on the peninsular at the end of the beach up on a hill. We found about a dozen campers parked at the bottom of the old town and made ourselves at home. Being out of season the place was pretty quiet. Bought some provisions ...

Flamin' Flamingos

From Cambrills about 1 hour south we arrived at Ebro Delta lagoon which is one of the largest wetlands for the migratory birds and also the best place to see flamingos. We had seen flamingos before in Bolivia but they were a long way away so Kim was keen to see them a little more up close! The lagoon looked more like a big swamp with over 70% of the area for ...

The "eternally sunny port"... CLOSED MONDAY!!!!

... the old town. The highlight of the day though was the 8Euro lunch – menu of the day. For this we got a Catalan soup which had noodles, beans, cabbage, dumplings, chicken and a few other veg. Then main course was spare ribs with sautéed onions and tomatoes, then dessert was Catalan crčme, all washed down with a jug of wine ...

Surfing in the Med

... all the tables reserved. We found one 2 hrs before the game and decided to stay until the game was over so as not to lose our spot. It was a great game with the local favorites Baca winning 1-0. Of course over the 3-4 hrs in the bar we consumed quite a few beers and tapas. After the game the surf caught up with me and it was time for bed. Kim and Val on the other hand were all set to party and stayed out until 2am in a funky bar (it was weird in Val’s words).

How did we get here?

So I don't know if you realized this but if you look at the map, Zaragoza is in the opposite direction of Portugal. In fact, its half way to Madrid and Barcelona. Well, you all must be asking yourselves "why are they going in that direction"? After driving for 4 hours we asked ourselves that very same thing! You see, to get to campsites we use the GPS coordinates that we find off of a eurocamping website. So far these coordinates have been very helpful ...

Trip to Teruel

... higher over the sealevel than other cities...then I found it kinda cold when I got there. At least 10ş less than in Valencia. Teruel - famous trough the jamón de Teruel - tastes better than the Iberic Jamón (not as strong...) But I had Döner Kebab as I went to Teruel - I was really graving it - so I had to have it... I walked trough the city and realised that it was ...

Relaxing in the villa

... eaten away by some sort of borer beatle/wood worm. The scratching in the headboards freaked the girls out and they didn't sleep as well as the guys. It was a very relaxing few days as we were all recovering from the festivities of Valencia. We did manage to take a walk around the hilltop castle in Morella and go for a run in some olive groves though.

Mas Tomates!!!!

... you went people were coming out of their garages or spraying hoses from their balconies washing people off, it was crazy to see. After I was hosed off we walked around the city a bit more to see what it was like. By walk around the city I mean that we got incredibly lost trying to find where the bus pickup was to be. We did see some pretty cool stuff though, and found a grocery store to get water. We saw a neat castle type thing with a cool little park and ...

Accommodation Anarchy - Part 1

Katie: 'This has to be one of the most frustrating days of our travels!! Grrr' Jay: 'Ditto, now can you please concentrate on your hitch-hiking skills and make sure the cars can see your thumb!' I promise I am not turning into one of those "train-spotter crazy people" but I really do love some train travel. Jumping on a train and watching the world go by via overland travel is so much better than air-travel as you can watch the landscape ...
