Calle 15, Avenida 6 bis San Jose, Province of San Jose, Costa Rica, 1000
The past couple of days have been really relaxing. I am definitely enjoying my last week or so before I have to go back to the real world and start teaching again. This last week is going to be just what I need. Today, I found a hostel that I am going to try, called Casa Ridgeway. It's in San José, right near the city center. It will be nice to be close to there so I can continue my last minute shopping. During the past couple of days, I've been waking up early and going to the various malls ...

San Jose, Province of San Jose, Costa Rica julegschwander... bitty bird. I love it. Later at the dinner table she told me that he is gay. She said gay in English.
Ummm…but Catalina you do not speak English…remember.
She said that long ago he had a wife and she went to live in an apartment on a hill and now he is gay. Ummm…I think that’s the story. Some of the words I did not quite get. I did wonder how people responded to him here. In Latin countries with all I know about the Machismo I wondered if he ...

We found a market a few blocks from the terminal to get some dinner and food for the road - little did we know there were two meals awaiting us on the bus. The market was a bit dicey since it was night-time in San Jose. There was a young man at a well lit bread shop (paneria) who spoke english. He helped us order an unfried chicken empanada, a massive scone and a cheese and veggie filled piece of soft bread. The man left for a minute ...
... told me that my exact words were, “JESUS PLEASE HELP ME JUMP OFF THIS BRIDGE!!!...GOD PLEAE GIVE ME THE STRENGTH!!!!” HAHAHA..with more screaming to go along with it. Hahaha, it was an epic experience! THEN…I JUMPED! And with my eyes open and everything I stopped breathing on the way down. Then as I snapped back up, it was another free fall (this one was much scarier than the first because you’re not ready for it) then another snap and free fall. It kept ...

After having a look around the village we ended again in our bar...to let the evening die away.
The next day started with our trip to Nano. proud to remember the way through the jungle we arrived at his place. Seeing him again in action with such an incredibble passion talking about his country and his roots, we spent a few hours listening about Costa Rica, Coffe and his women stories:)
Afterwards he showed us around his property. offering us ...
... Economic Development (CED). In the Peace Corps we have many acronyms so if you read my blog you will need to learn them quick or don't bother. I just got back from our "tech visit" to the north of the country. I stayed with a family of almost all women minus the 2 year old boy who did anything he wanted including throwing rocks, throwing rocks at me, throwing rocks at the dog, throwing rocks at other rocks, riding his tricycle through ...
Rio Conejo, Costa Rica kirkcolby... grade, making my day at school roughly 6 hrs. This includes 1st through 6th grade with 40 minute periods, kinder with 30 minutes, and hour for lunch and 30 minutes for cafecito! I, for some reason am teaching a heck of a lot longer than several of my friends but this also means that I am not forced to fill empty spaces of my time creatively. I decided a good place to start with the kids is review of the alphabet, numbers, days of the ...
La Estrella del Guarco, Costa Rica mmm.cafecitos... pictures really soon. Our endeavor to explore the city was fruitless since we didn't realize that it is new years day so EVERYTHING was closed. It was still nice walking around and getting better acquainted with the city. We are planning on exploring more tomorrow when everything is open. We miss u all! tell us how your New Years went! xoxo
San Jose, Costa Rica willstar... really have any. Back in my real life I'm a chef in a hotel!) And yes, by the way, the toilets work again. My sixth week in Costa Rica was spent in another national park, Barra Honda. That would be the week where I definitely got my wish for physical labor fulfilled. Besides taking wonderful tours and walks in the ...
