    May 28 El Nicho Mountains and ponds hike, El Nicho is about 90 minutes from Cienfuegos in the mountains the temp dropped from 33C to 28C and was very pleasant. We parked and hiked in to the mountains passing a nice clear swimming pond with a water fall then to another then up to past a beautiful waterfall to a larger pond at the top. We all stripped off and jumped into the cool mountain water and swam for about 45 minutes enjoying the cool ...

    ... A/C and it's not falling to bits. Generally you can drive yourself, but if anything goes wrong, then it can become a real hassle. Anyway we are glad that we had a car, it has allowed us to see more of Cuba than with a bus.     ... and explained it could be hard to get a taxi back so he would come back for us. On his return he brought us a mango as a present! We didn't have the heart to tell him we have mangos in Aus, as he thought he was introducing us to something new. So generous considering how expensive mangos are for locals (although not for tourists at around 30c).
