Laundry day! Yay!! Our landlady, Ramona, got the joyous task of cleaning lashings of smelly clothes for the group. Meanwhile, we set off to Vadu Izei town to take out some Romanian Lei, change our Hungarian Florins into Lei, or RON's as the EU called them, and to try to send some souvenirs home. We're not souvenir people per se, but we have managed to find a few items for friends plus we have a lot of winter stuff we brought with us but haven't had a chance to use as we have ...

After the day of travel we arrived in the back blocks of Romania at 10pm. We had a little bit of a delay at the border between Hungary and Romania, but we had our supplies on hand and were well prepared for the journey. This was a home stay place, ...

Long traveling day today. Started at 8am this morning with a 2 hr bus ride to Debrecen - another Hungarian city. Had 3 hours to wander around - not that we felt like wandering too much in the 40 degree heat. Found a quirky little alleyway to have lunch in - they only had one item on the menu - pork cutlet with potatoes and tomato soup, but it was yum. Them of course, we had to get icecream :) Left around 3pm ...

... There was one that looked like maybe she had been the village flirt (or even more), there were school teachers, bartenders, shepherds, mothers, seamstresses, mechanics, and so many more. I felt like I was wandering through the story of a village.

As I wandered through the cemetery I started thinking about what my grave marker would have looked like if I hadn't turned things around. My picture would have showed a lonely, ...

... i think they thought i was mad for staying in a tent. I wasn't sure what to do about dinner, i had bought food cook and was really hungry but being a chemical engineer and having worked on an oil refinery i was a little worried about lighting my camping stove given the current location, so i decided to play it safe and have sandwiches instead. Later that evening i went for a pee in the petrol station, as i asked for the key they noticed i had a hat on (when its colder i tent to wear ...
