Started the day with a bit of breaky and then left for the bus station for our 2-1/2hr bus to Debrecen. The bus was jus an ordinary public city bus so had a bit of trouble finding room for 10 backpacks but eventual we got settled and were on our way. ... us to the Romanian border, which we crossed hassle free. The drop off in wealth once across the border was immediately apparent, having travelled barely 1km into Romania and I was already having to overtake horse-drawn wagons. After a few hours driving, we arrived at Sighetu Marmatiei, a town in the Ukrainian border in far north Romania. This was a home stay place, ...

Had 3 hours to wander around - not that we felt like wandering too much in the 40 degree heat. Found a quirky little alleyway to have lunch in - they only had one item on the menu - pork cutlet with potatoes and tomato soup, but it was yum. Them of course, we had to get icecream :) Left around 3pm ...
