... sea is about 30 miles away. The old port gates are still standing. Every day the streets were flooded with gushing water to clean them. Large stepping stones were placed in the street to allow pedestrians to cross without getting there sandals wet. ... a giant church that is famous here in Naples. We went inside and were instantly awed by everything. It did not compare to the Vatican in size but it was amazing in its own right. Not a single inch was blank. There were paintings, mosaics, marble and gold covering everything. The amount of detail that went into everything was incredible. ... ticket is only any good if validated on the platform. With about 10 mins to spare I leaped off the train bags and all and ran to the validating machine. Got back on fine and found a seat, train left 5 minutes late anyway. And my ticket wasn't checked in the end. Oh well. Plugged in my headphones and watches the scenery go by for just under three hours.
