    ... added a bit to our feeling of the place, a bit depressing say my fellow travellers.

    We walked from the walls through to the main square. It was pretty deserted. We looked around and checked out a couple of shops. The piazza is round as it is built on top of an old Roman arena. After just over an hour, we thought we would drive down to Pisa and return on the way home.

    We all arrived at breakfast this morning a bit slow and tired after our marathon day yesterday. Despite being a bit slow we were looking forward to seeing Lucca and Pisa today. Gilberto was keen for us to get to Lucca pretty early so we could experience it without the crowds that turn up later in the day. Tourists!
