... been in Cuba. It seems pretty rich of the Americans to comandere a piece of land in a country they've shunned for over 50 years. Apparently they still send a yearly "rent" check of $4000. The LP says they've never been cashed. and Castro keeps them in a a desk draw. The views from the bus were some of the best I've seen in Cuba. Sometimes we hugged the coast were there were small cliffs being smashed by the waves (and the occasional ****** beach) and other times there were ...

Musicians play most nights from 11:00 - 2:00 AM in the Old City directly below our hotel. They are VERY loud. The church bell rings on the hour and the roosters are up at 5:00 AM crowing. We were accompanied by a duo of musicians and another Intrepid group, though there was little interaction between the two groups. We had been promised a feast and whilst the sides dissapeared quickly, there was plenty of the hog roast to go round. It was a little disconcerting though eating our dinner when a group of piglets and their mum came sniffing around. The musicians ...

... there is a lot of Cuba time here. James wasn't impressed with his lobster which tasted of ammonia. Still it was a lovely party, happy birthday being sung in English and Spanish and many cocktails being consumed. The bicycle taxis waited for us and back in to town. We had to get off for them to go uphill. The young ones went off to le Casa Trova and we shuffled off home, James fading a little now. Another great day in this island ...

... seems to be so small and country like. Time definitely stood still here. Baracoa was the place where Coloumbus entered Cuba first and where the first Spanish settlers arrived, later they also entered other areas. Roger told us that not many people work here. Because of the fruitful land and the close sea they can get almost everything they need from the nature.

Eigentlich wollten wir Baracoa ein Tag verfrüht verlassen, da es für uns sehr klein war und nicht ...
