Lazy day in Punta Gorda, Cienfuegos

A travel blog entry by antheamac on Nov 13, 2014

... the patio looking at the bay and had coffee.
We moved on to the place next door, the Palacio de Valle, a most impressive place, another spiral staircase, also a marble one, also most Arabic looking designs. It seems to function as a restaurant and there were plenty of tour people in there having meals and drinks. We just wandered around. Leaving there we went further down to the point and came across a small park area with eating places and tables. More beer and a ...

Odd job and exploration day in Cienfuegos.

... We found the bus station and eventually bought our tickets for the trip to Trinidad, then ventured into the centre, going into the bank and having a ham and cheese toasted sandwich on the way. The folk servicing us were amazed at Mac taking photos and we were intrigued by the waitress's patterned black tights - it seems the fashion in this town! ... and saw that everything was $15 and nothing looked that amazing, so we left and continued walking for quite a while. Soon we found our old taxi driver and he tried to take us somewhere else too. We found out that at the restaurants, if a certain person brings you to the restaurant, they get an incentive. We ignored his recommendation and found a place called Florida blanco. The prices were much better and the food was delicious. We finished and all separated to walk ...

French influence in the city of Cienfuegos

... the even more famous city of Trinidad. Given its size and our further travel plans we decided to spend only one night in town. The owner of our casa particulares in Havana had kindly reserved a casa particulares for us in Cienfuegos and given us the address on a piece of paper. Unfortunately he did not tell us that someone was waiting at the bus station to bring us to the casa. Well, after being told awfully high prices for a taxi ride in Cienfuegos, ...
