In spite of its egalitarian principals, public transportation in Cuba is basic and poorly managed. Passengers sometimes have to wait very long periods for a bus to arrive. Interesting Cuban transport

Since the bus station was several kilometers outside of Havana’s centre, we had to take a taxi to get there. In order to get a fair price we had the owner of our casa particulares organize a taxi for us. He was very happy when he presented to us an old Chevy, saying that the fare was only 6 CUC, which was anything but cheap but still cheaper than the 8 CUC or more that taxi drivers usually offered us foreigners. ...
