Lazy day in Punta Gorda, Cienfuegos

After another large breakfast, good again, we decided we would investigate what was around locally and try to find an internet friendly place, we felt we should at least make another attempt to contact our families. The hotel Jagua we were told would have this. On the way we came across a man peddling his fruit and veg to the locals. There was an intriguing potato looking veg which it seemed was not a potato but not dissimilar. On the way down to the hotel was a small park ...

The first breakfast at the casa particularis here was very good and very large, pancakes with honey, tropical fruit, fruit juice, omelet, cheese and ham and coffee, plus bread we had no space for!
We headed off into the town to buy our bus ticket to Trinidad, exchange some money and find an Internet cafe. It was a nice walk, with a coffee stop along the way as we walked along the palm lined waterfront. The buildings in the town were not quite as grand ...

We had packed our bags the night before, except for the last minute things, breakfast at 8am and off to find a taxi to take us to the Viazul bus station. We had booked our tickets two days before. We had our morning coffee there before boarding the bus.We did not see our bags going onto the bus so Anthea went to investigate and organised the bus officials to collect the bags from the left luggage area! We had been warned that the bus trip and getting on it ...

... of cream and brown satin fabrics). The waiters all in crip black uniforms and red bow ties and really formal in their service . The tables are richly and formally set as well. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced. I ordered an entre cold selection which was olives, cheese and ham, and main of shrimps in Cuban sauce. The main was at least 2 dozen prawns with a tomato based sauce, rice and veges. That with a drink came to 15 CUC. Really nice last dinner. What amazed ...

We end up at an amazingly beautiful hotel where we sleep in individual bungalows and basque in the beauty of the ocean. The photos speak for themselves. Needless to say, we took advantage of ocean and beach time that night and early the next morning because we would be leaving the next day. Cuba's beauty is never ending.
