Off to the big city.
Portobelo to Colon (not just a clever name) on the famous central america chicken bus. And what an experience! Ya couldnt get a friendlier bus load of people. The 4 gringos and their masses of annoying luggage are welcomed into the bus family. The two girls(from the boat) entertain the kids while I enter a haggling match …

... We were arriving in rain, so not another beautiful day, but it made for an adventure. HUGE starfish 3-5 feet off shore and lobsters as well...more like huge shrimp as they had no front claws, only feelers and a spikey outer shell, they turn pinkish when cooked. Grilled fish for lunch and some cervezas( doesn't sound like I'm an alcoholic when you say it in a foreign language does it!) Swim rain swim Return to town Supposedly Bookstore Bar in town has a live band ...

... towards the Central Park where there was a conservation booth selling tours to see the turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs - we will definitely do that but not tonight.

We walked to other end of town to the Saigon area, trying to find another accommodation we had been told about but with no luck. We carried on up the road and stumbled across the Bocas Brewery. With seven locally brewed beers on tap it makes for a difficult choice ...

... healthy food - which is rare in Central America! So for anyone reading this who is going to Bocas - go to Blended! We also stumbled across 2 of our boat pals (the Aussie - Steve, and the Swede - Kenny) at the hostel so if Bocas was famous for it's parties, we were going to paint the town red! ... The next day we decided to hire a quad bike and explored Isla Colon and it's surf beaches as well as taking a trip out on the only road to the other side of town. Here we wandered along the coastline on amazing sandy beaches to starfish beach that did not disappoint as we were able to take a dip amongst them.
