Portobelo to Colon (not just a clever name) on the famous central america chicken bus. And what an experience! Ya couldnt get a friendlier bus load of people. The sun was shining in Bocas so we knew weŽd made the right choice in moving on! Bocas was beautiful and we loved the local island feel to it...everyone seemed to know everyone and we certainly knew most of the locals by the time we left!

... so we decided to ride the 5 minutes into town and explore.

We had some pizza for lunch and had a quick poke around town, but it was so hot we just wanted some respite from the heat. In search of a beach for a swim and cool off, we settled for the stretch of beach that connects Bocas Town to the main Island. Our first stop, the water was murky, full of seaweed, and we seemed to be getting fibreglass-like prickles in our feet from the sand.

So, that is what we did: got to know the lovely locals, almost bought a hut for $20,000, walked incredible remote beaches, ate some incredibly fresh fish and prawns, saw turtles at night and slept outside one night under a million stars.
