Guell, Gaudi, and Picasso - Last Day In Barcelona

10.30.09 Guell, Gaudi, and Picasso - Last Day In Barcelona, Spain

After our clean laundry was folded and packed back into our suitcases (all Murray's doing – thanks, Hon!), Murray and I did end up going to Gaudi Park (or, more accurately, Parc Guell, umlaut on the "u") yesterday (10.29.09) afternoon. We took the Metro to the neighborhood of Lesseps, and then walked an additional 15 minutes to get to the park’s front gate.

The park is every bit ...

Flight from Prague to Barcelona

... a can of Tesco beer!) before going through security. We had a look at the duty-free shops then went to our departure gate. It was already full, so we sat at the next one . There had been an announcement that our flight was delayed by an hour (so much for the punctuality mission statement!), so we had some time to kill. The gate at which we were sitting had a flight to Paris that was also delayed, so it seemed to be a common problem.

A little ...

Barcelona, Tapas, Sangria and Gaudi

Recently Jon had a four day weekend so we decided to drive to Barcelona. It is about a five hour drive from Lyon. We had a great time. The weather was perfect. The food was even better. What a beautiful city!!! The Picasso Museum was incredible. We enjoyed the architecture lesson we got on about every corner. We will definitely be making a return visit. Anyone want to join us? Enjoy the pictures!

The Home of Gaudi (and Manuel from Fawlty towers)

... Spanish meal (Mcnuggets..) before walking down to the train station to book an overnight ticket to Madrid, I then walked a considerable distance back to the Bus station to buy a ticket for Andorra the next day, I really should have done that when I first arrived at the bus station but oh well. With the long winded task of walking from one side of the city to the other and then back again out of the way I decided to start my sightseeing at the Sagrada ...

... street to Placa de Catalunya to get on board the sightseeing bus. We were lucky at most places to get on the open top deck but the line up to get on the bus at La Sagrada Familia was too long so we opted to take photos from the bus so didn't actually get any close ups or get inside (second time to Barcelona and I still haven't been inside!). From the bus we were able to see some houses designed ...

¡¡¡Barcelona es de Puta Madre!!!

... by the sheer amount of people walking around. There were people everywhere, and all of them were incredibly interesting. They were from every walk of life, and were going in every possible direction. The performers were a little more purposefully entertaining. During my time there I saw everything from magicians and dancers to Michael Jackson or Ronoldinho impersonators. It was fantastic. As soon as I took ...

Barcelona - 2006/07

... the parents of Lucia, Carmen and Pol), who are a bit older, prepared an amazing activity in the heights..., it took place on the trees no less! On 29th night, everyone dressed up. Pol was a very young camouflage soldier; Carmen was a cute shepherdess; and Lucia was a pretty angel. For the rest "mature" ones, the theme was "The 60s". To summarize... We had a great time there! Thank you guys!

Holidays in Barcelona! Public Holidays that is!

... list. You also get bread, dessert, and drink... which in Spain, inevitably means wine. Here, Cierra and I both order white, and out comes an entire bottle for us to share. Whoo. Well, okay, if you're twisting our arm, I guess we can drink a free bottle of wine. Later, we weave our way back to Franco's and retrieve our bags. We had thought about staying to meet the Polish girls, but decide that Franco has quite enough on his hands welcoming 3 new guests ...

Gaudi or Gaudy?

Our entry for 6/8 is a little late...I know everyone has been waiting with bated breath. When we returned to our apartment from dinner last night both of us were too exhausted to complete our blog. Yesterday was another interesting day that involved a lot of walking. We decided not to set our alarm clock since we were in need of some extra sleep, so we woke up late and only had a few hours before Graham had to be at the conference. We decided to ...

Barcelona

April 30 After a long night train ride, sitting up with locals for about 10 hrs (the compartments were sold-out) we were quite tired, but managed to find our hotel and thankfully our ROM was ready at ! It was great. We took power naps and showers then set out to explore Barcelona. We stayed right on Las Ramblas and in perfect walking distant to the sites. It was Saturday and the city was ...
