... up back in Montorosso and was waiting for the right train this time when Soo ran up to me. Haha. It's funny how we meet like this. She told me about her travels from yesterday and today and then we got on the right train and said goodbye. I went back to the usual spot to eat spaghetti and a slice of pizza and a beer and then went back to where I was staying to pack and have limoncello. The stuff is interesting, that's all I'll say. ... determine which line we should take. The young girl and her friend went to the tickets office for help. The queue was about 50 plus people when I'd checked it on the way in, so heaven only knows which train they'll catch. We continued on, changing as needed, arriving in Lucca in time to catch a bus back to the apartment. All in sunshine.

... pedestrian lanes were part of the charm of this village. Part way through the walking tour, we stopped at one of Rick Steves’ suggested restaurants, Via Venti, for lunch. The pear and cheese pasta which Rick mentions in his guide-book was so good that we went back several days later and had the same meal again!

Rejuvenated, we continue the guided walk through the streets and back roads of Monterosso. Huffing ...

... and chocolate I would have to agree, washed down by a good Latte. Photo supplied ..... (this was 5pm) Refuelled we bought some local wine to have later with a Pizza which we shared on the waterfront as the sun got lower.

Whilst this town relies heavily from tourism it does not feel touristy. They have done a good balance of maintaining their local lifestyle and catering for the tourists without ripping them off. No hotels ...

... their kneecaps on a giant stone step. When I stop for some water, they finally give us a big smile and pass us by. We continue to move at our own slow pace as the full packs force us to be more careful with our footing. Getting closer we follow a road and then descend a long flight of stairs to reach the edge of town. There is a beach here that says libero or free so we know it is time for a break. We have discovered Il Gigante Spiaggia or the beach of the giant. ...
