The Menin Gate - is a memorial to all British and commonwealth soldiers (except New Zealand and Newfoundland) that have no known grave - over 55,000!!! The ceremony has taken place every evening at 8pm since 1927 - except during German occupation during WWII. It was standing room only at the ceremony this evening Looong day - looking forward to bed ...

... down !!.Had lovely day and our 5 o'clocks were friets and local beers in the market place. So European loved it. Home for rest and out later for dinner. Fogot to say we had few spots of rain today didn't last and still very warm. Another day to explore tomorrow everything here is so beautifully presented and shops full of such gorgeous clothes' shoes and home wares. Shame we don't have a container to fill. ...

... Venice so I felt quite defensive. Bruges had to prove it was worthy of such a title.

If I hadn't realised my expectations could disappoint me they probably would have. Ever the pessimist I worked hard to judge this place on my own accord. I feel whatever I write won't be an original description. Yet I think that says it all; the town is essentially the same as it's always been and that's the appeal. ... are hardcore! They work their tails off in the fields just as hard as the men and are good hardy workers. We see them everywhere tilling a field, carrying buckets, and they're old! That is amazing! They even beat us on the hills and stairs. I'm impressed. Back to Burg Eltz- met more friends. Toured the castle with them. Our tour guide was a cool, young guy that has been to 22 of the 50 states in the US. His favorite is Colorado- ...
