... or both. I didn't overindulge just in case I couldn't continue. Arriving in Torres del Rio there were three choices in albergue. The one I chose wasn't the best choice but the evening meal at the local restaurant "Lili" more than made up for the mistake: lentil soup, steak chop and rice puddings plus wine and bread all for 10€. Another Adventure - In the Basque Country
... and because it is in the "Pais Vasco" it also has it's own language - Euskara. This language is completely different than Spanish altogether. Look for the pictures that shows two signs, one with each language, and you will understand what I mean!

... decided to pay. The A roads were great - but - every large artic lorry will not pay to use the toll so they were all on the single carriageway road - hard work and very noisy! We then travelled about 200 kms on the toll road and only saw about 100 vehicles - but we did pay 30 euros for the journey!

4. A place not recommended by Frances is the Casa Mariela in Torres del Rio. It was noisy and crowded. Also, they appear to have poached on the name of the older and quieter Casa Mari, tucked away at the top of the town. (We were under the impression that there was only one hostel in this village, so when we reached the Casa Mariela the name sounded more or less right and we checked in by mistake.)
