... t even like Buenos Aires! He turned up at our hostel around 10am, on our second freezing cold rainy day here. The temperature has been going up and down like a yoyo amd its not easy to figure out what to do on these day. We didn´t do very well opting for some Sunday markets way out of town which didn´t even turn out to be on in bad weather. We were in a taxi and the driver suggested another market which he drove us to way outside the city boundaries. We went for ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina gypsyfeet... profondément tous ceux qui m'ont suivi car si je n'avais pas vu le grand nombre de visiteurs croissant je n'aurais surement pas continué si assidument. Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina bourlingueurEven colder today, but bright and sunny. We woke up late, no Spanish lessons today, it's a public holiday because its Independence Day. On July 9th 1816, the foundation of an argentinan republic was formed and they gained their independence from Spain but they didn't actually become the republic of Argentina until 24th December 1826. <br>We headed into the city on the overland rail from Colegiales. Three pesos (less than one aussie dollar) for 4 one way tickets. We arrived at ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina casebrownfamilyLots of meat and too much wine. That has been our main activities in BA. The city is enormously big and shiny and incredibly strange when coming from Bolivia and Peru where there are piles of rubble in the street. The first night we got here we went for a few drinks in a local bar which was really cool. The next day we went to Siga La Vaca, literally "Follow the cow", which is an all you can eat steak and BBQ restaurant with wine ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina willandlindsey... decided to ditch the tango over a caiprinha. Felt annoyed that we couldnt do the class but we assured ourselves we would take some private ones.. or join another group.. or even go watch a show... YES, we would go watch a show (how **** are we!?) We chatted with our hostel who recommended us a great one nearby but was starting in 15 mins. We hurriedly decided to go and flew to get changed and out within minutes. We arrived at this completly swanky club (we ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina sara.a... week." The ice cream was a delightful mixture of vanilla, chocolate and Americano, which we proceeded to cover with dulce de leche (which is like a really, really rich creamy caramel sauce) liquor, and eat on the floor in the center of our bedroom. All of it. I don't know if I have ever been so happy. Wednesday the only class I had was Spanish class, and was overall a low key day. Thursday I have a Latin American literature class in English ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina larkinrose... on my own. After the cemetery I had a café nearby. Then I got lost. I have a book with maps in it for the Colectivos which are buses in Argentina. I learned how to use it. The book once explained is super easy to understand. The problem lies in knowing where the bus stops are in a certain quadrant. I found out after you just have to ask a local where 101 bus is located.
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina gpalecek... mixed with culinary elements from China and Japan, and also has a Creole influence. Having trouble deciding, Martin suggested we leave ourselves in the Chef's hands, and have a selection of various Peruvian-style sushi and appetizers, and some of the entrees. Wade selected a Chandon sparkling rose - a first for me, it was quite nice, and the rose's effervescence was a nice complement to many of the spicier dishes, and also served to ...
Tigre, Argentina pwong... heard to sigh with exasperation at quite how bad we were. I'm pleased we were actually paying customers rather than it being a real school or we could have been expelled on the grounds of incompetence. While studying we were also enjoying the many things that Buenos Aires has to offer. The Sunday market in San Telmo was great with street artists and live tango (an obsession in BA) The Recoleta cemetery (home to Evita now), whose fate was even more colourful after her death ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina harpsam... visa, passport, ipod, sunglasses etc.etc...them the first monument that we knew of the city where the different embassies and consulates), kind of thing that happen where you arrive at 7a.m. after a 14 hour trip and you are still half sleep. As a reason to speed up our journey on the northern Argentina is that we wanted to meet with the "Peque", the tiny in English, is the youngest of the brothers with the 20 years and half a head taller than Mayra but ...
