Goodbye from a Gondola

A travel blog entry by serafina2

Today was a pretty great last day in Venice, and in Italy. We woke up and went out for breakfast at the train station, where we bought croissants and juice or water. Right off the bat, we went out and jumped on a boat to San Marco. Three out of eight of us and Mr. Trotter ended up on a boat that took them straight there- the other five and Blaze ended up on a boat in which the next stop was the last stop, so we had to get off and wait on the dock for another boat to come up, which ...

... and watched everyone else embarrass themselves due to that damn fiend we call liquor. It was great!

Though the next morning saw me without a hangover, I still felt like a zombie heading to that bus due to a near complete lack of sleep. Another ship, Carnival Sunshine left shortly before us and is much bigger than Costa Magica. It was amazing watching it go past the Venice skyline because it actually dwarfed the buildings. We went up to the top deck to watch Venice disappear into the distance. The three gym bunnies went off to get some exercise while ...

Ferry time

... 6.30am I bade him farewell and set off on my run. It is possible to run in Venice on very flat ground, but it does involve numerous foot bridges up and over each section of canal, so a bit of interval running was required. Towards the end of the grand canal there is a park which gives you sweeping views of Venice and the island of San Giorgio, so this particular run has been one of the most enjoyable....if that's possible! Met up with Hughy again, who was finishing off his mornings ...
