... if your life depended on it. We found some dinner near St Mark's square. I had a lovely lobster pasta and Jess enjoyed her meatballs and spaghetti. By this time it was quite late and we met up with the group for the long trip back on foot. Unfortunately we didn't get to spend as much time in Venice as we had hoped and the constant travel was beginning to drain our resolve. We hit the pillows hard and slept well in anticipation for the trip to the ancient capital the next ...

... square so we headed there. We did some window shopping and eventually found one of the restaurants that our apartment contact recommended as authentic Venetian food. We also found her favorite gelato shop nearby (called Alaska). ... lost" rather literally. We eventually found ourselves over by the cruise terminal, and then had to figure out how to get back to our hotel. Venice has no rhyme and reason to the streets and canals. The streets are too narrow to be able to see landmarks, and they curve. Plus, it seemed that the locational signage surrounding us never corresponded with the names on the map. Fortunately, Venice does provide directional signage, pointing tourists toward main attractions in the city. St. ...

    ... I guess.

Had a fabulous dinner though - the kids are in heaven food-wise. Pizza, pasta, gelato ( and wine and coffee too!). Had a thought at dinner tonight though - how many daily serves of vegetables would there be in pizza sauce?

Had to take a photo of this - the huge cruise liner sailing past in the background - looked a little out of place.....
