This morning we left Innsbruck and made our way to Venice, Italy. Our bus couldn't take us the whole way to Venice. We instead got dropped off at the pier and caught a boat out to Venice. ... the man gave me a rice cake for free! It was delicious. We made our way back by St. Mark's Square and it was completely flooded. We had seen people walking around with what looked like trash bags around their feet but we thought they were just hard-core campers. To even get through St. Mark's Square you had to buy these trash bags to tie around your feet to trudge across the square.

... That teamed with the fact he had possibly the worst teeth and the worst breath we had ever seen or smelled didn’t do anything to encourage us to go with him either!

We turned a couple of corners and found a few more gondolas and approached one of the men. He wouldn’t agree to the price either, so again we walked away. Again, we were chased! This time it was by the guy running the gondola next to the one we had approached. Finally, he agreed to do the tour for 80 ...

... district. Our hosts lived in the same building and were very kind, offering touring info and use of their internet whenever we needed. Luckily they both spoke French as our Italian isn’t too hot. Venice is pricey, and in the time we went, packed to the rim in tourists. Renting an apartment off the main route is really a great way to go to save some money, and to get some down time from the crowds.
