... were allowed into the gender-correct side. And of course the ladies queue was three times as long, and half the time there wasn’t anyone on the mens at all. Ah well, they were clean so she did a good job. And they were directly outside the canal gate to the ‘wells’ prison we had seen first, an anonymous-looking door, and I’ll bet only a tiny fraction of visitors had any idea of the fascinating history that lay just meters ...

... Grand Canal as it snakes through the heart of Venice, and saw what makes this city so unique. The Grand Canal - Venice's "Main Street" - is truly grand. At more than two miles long, 150 feet wide, and nearly 15 feet deep, it's the city's largest canal, lined with its most impressive palaces and churches. ... appliance is hidden from view. It is fine but I think we would have enjoyed the accommodation at the Moresco even though this location is more than ideal.

We passed by the hubbub created by Sasha and Malia and Michelle Obama and mother Marian Robinson as they visited here. But they didn’t get to see us.

... turned the corner, and watched shallow ripples of sea water flow past still-busy gelato shops and a still-performing string quartet on a platform. To the delight of the tourists, they launched into the theme song from "Titanic"!

Most of the water comes up from the storm drains, and we walked to the sea wall to see the waves lapping at the edge. A short walk found us back at the hotel, with another fabulous day behind us.
