Venice Arrived at the Venice airport and hopped on the bus for the island only to have to get off again as the bus was broken. Bus fixed, we were on our way and across the causeway that connects Venice proper to the mainland. Once off the bus we left all the cars behind as no cars are allowed on the old part of the island. What we did not realise is that those lovely arched bridges over the main canal are not smoothed but stepped - so we had to carry and drag luggage ...
