The sun brings out the sparkle and even more tourists- even on a Sunday morning! They shed their umbrellas and ponchos, and girls and women don their short-shorts and leopard-print adornments. When we finally arrived in Venice, it was one o'clock on Tuesday 17th June, we took the water bus from the airport to Venice. Isabelle and Zac had a ball, they loved cruzing around, they were waving out the window at passing boats.

... Our hotelier Mr Faousto (nicknamed Mr Fusty) was very friendly and seemed to want to chat all evening, unfortunately for him we were eager to explore. ... saw chess sets made like Romans vs Barbarians, and dogs vs cats. We then entered St Marks, to find large puddles at "acqua alto" and the adventure of walking on the board ways. We went to St Marks, and admired the mosaics of gold. Then we went up the campanile - the symbolic bell tower. It is a reconstruction - the original fell down in 1902, leaving a 12m pile of debris but not damaging any surrounding buildings or inhabitants! The views from the tower were amazing - really helped ...

... number of other expensive shops. Checked in- luckily I have paid for a double room. The room is pretty small and the bathroom even smaller. The bathroom's great if you want a shower while on the toilet! I quickly unpack and head out to wander around. It's so nice wandering through the small streets and over bridges. I stop for dinner at a small restaurant then head back to the hotel with tired feet. Need to have an early night as I've got a lot planned for ...
