Day 4: The day of the massage

Day 4: Thursday, November 6, 2008 Our day started out with a phenomenal massage given by an Armenian named Arsen. For $17 each, plus a BIG tip, Katrina and I got the massage of our lives. There wasn't a muscle, tendon, cartilage, bone, joint was left untouched. He massaged all 206 bones in each foots. That is 824 bones with both of our feet. Since we had danced quite a bit the night before, it was nirvana. We will have him back next week. After the massage, while walking to Katerina's apartme...

Buenos Dias Buenos Aires

... makes the area not a bad place to be at all. Having now done one of the "10 Recommended Things to do in Buenos Aires" that evening I attempted to achieve 2 more. Firstly, I had a steak: a very tender tenderlion which didn't impress me so much at the time but got me salivating the next day thinking about it. Secondly: a tango show. It turned out though that the tango show wasn't actually showing, but they had live musicians and flamenco ...

Rio to Buenos Aires - a bit late but hey

... the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral, the cemetery where Evita is buried, a Tango dinner show and a bit of shopping too.  Our itinerary has changed a little and it looks like we might leave out Iguacu Falls - as much as we both want to go, we've heard the water level isn't so great at the moment.  Anyway, there is plenty to keep us occupied here and it will be nice to relax for the last week of our holiday!

Buenos Aires - The City of Great Expectations

... with statues. Many of Argentinas most important and influential people are buried here with the most famous person probably being Eva Peron. The whole cemetery is laid out in sections like city blocks. Most of the mausoleums are in prestine condition but some have have fallen into disrepair. You can even see coffins through the broken doors and some coffins themselves are broken or falling apart! We saw graves of two Irish people, the founder of the ...

Getting my tango on in Buenos Aires!!!

... center is similar to San Francisco- with the hustle and bustle Monday through Friday but on the weekends is quiet and left to the tourists. I like it so much more during the week- when all the action hits! :) There is even a famous cemetery in the center, which happens to be Evita's final resting place along with countless war heroes and politicians. The cemetery is one like I have never seen- and it was pretty neat to see how the ...

CHAPTER 1: INTRO AND ARGENTINE CUSTOMS ESCAPE

... global organised crime behemoth, where charges at the unloading end seem to be accrued randomly and without limit. Also the idea of leaving our beloved bikes on a leaky ship with an unshaven and whoring crew for between 30 and 60 days had about the same appeal as having your 17 year old sister wait tables at Spearmint Rhino's during her summer holidays. In the end, the added initial expense of air freighting vs. sea freight was outweighed by the benefit of a certain arrival date ...

Buenos Aires

When I think of all the amazing cities I have been to in my short travelling career, I think of places like London, New York, Prague, Shanghai and Bangkok. All of them are overflowing with amazing night life, a cultural heart beat and endless tourist traps for suckers like me to lap up! However I feel I may have found a new front runner in the 'Amazing City' category, Buenos Aires. Finally hooking up with some friends from back home, I knew that I would enjoy ...
