Heading westwards through central Wales we drove down the valleys, with the certain knowledge that there were large mountains on both sides of us, even if we couldn't see them. The clouds sank lower and lower to meet us, so that by the time we drove through Y Fenni (or Abergavenny to normal folk) it was almost like driving though a thin layer of candyfloss.

We are surprised by the smallness of the room. Nowhere to put a suitcase and hardly anywhere to turn around. ...
