I had never heard of Chester until someone said it would be worth spending a day there. As it turned out, on the day I visited Chester a couple of thousand other tourists had the same idea, and probably all took photos of the same sights that I did ( but I bet I was the only one who got a shot of the beer swilling man with a pig's backside ).
Chester has at least three things that distinguish it from most other towns or cities in England.

... this had on the Beatles. As a huge fan of Elvis' music (early leather jacket Elvis, not jumpsuit Elvis) it was a good little afternoon stroll listening to some great music, which was a nice way to finish up our time in Liverpool. It was interesting though in that it had twin towers with a bell suspended between – unusual, we thought.

... very early start but I did managed to pick up my visa with no delays, though I have since heard that 5 or so other people with my company are going to arrive late due to visa issues, so it would not have been too much of a problem if I had been delayed it seems. Had some nice mother daughter time while waiting for my flight at Manchester airport, my mum desperately trying to think of any ...

Dave - Landed on time in Amsterdam, first off the plane and then a brisk walk from gate E22 to D4 as we only had 45 minutes to make our connection. In the event the plane was full and security was slow so the plane was slightly delayed taking off but as its only a short hop over the North Sea we were on time in Manchester. Amazingly our luggage was waiting for us on the carousel, usually that only happens in Zurich! We weren't held up unduly at passport ...
