Day 1 - Tuesday. Good flight and accommodation in great location in Westminster. It is a very old private hotel with 50 rooms, nothing flash but suits our needs. Only issue was the shockingly squeaky door into the bathroom em suite. No matter, fixed now - amazing what Clinique moisturiser and some hotel grade hand wash can do!

"When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life." - Samuel Johnson I haven't had any down time since landing in London Heathrow- there is so much going on here! Day 1: Before even checking in to our hotel, Professor Merrick took us from the airport to Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guard. Honestly, we couldn't see much with all the …
DAY 1 WED Back in Sydney I had gone to great lengths to plan the trickier parts of our holiday, which included the walk from Victoria Station to our hotel. Unfortunately (a word which will recur throughout this tale) my computer-generated map cut off part of the station and the surrounding streets and I couldn't work out how to get to the street …
DAY 36 WED A few hours later we left the ferry at Holyhead. My charm worked its usual wonders and the Hertz girl handed us the keys to a Nissan Almera, one grade up from the Fiesta we had booked. As I navigated us over the hills and valleys of Snowdonia National Park Margaret was visibly moved by the beauty of the scenery. Her previous most …
... course...) The queue to get to the bar takes far too long... but at least there was some kiwi music to enjoy!
So what happened that night.. well Larry hung out with the Woohoo girls (Katie's name for them), Katie made out with two different guys (one of whom is friends with my Kiwi boss..), George does her usual and disappears off with some random on the dance floor (probably to ...

Authentic private London hotel with character. Fantastic location, staff helpful and breakfast very good. Downside is that there are no fridges in rooms, and when we arrived extremely thirsty and asked for a cold drink, they were only able to provide a couple of cans of warm coke and bottles of warm water. This would not have been an issue if I was aware earlier so perhaps my fault as well, probably have just come to expect these things as standard. Nevertheless I would certainly recommend, as we could walk all over London from here and trains and buses within a ten minute walk.

A Canadian Find
Stayed here in May of 2004,We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I hurt my leg and they changed our room to put us on the ground floor. The breakfast was great and the rooms, small but clean. We were close to Victoria train and coach station and within walking distance of some major attractions. Would stay again in a minute.
Excellent price, great location and clean!
We stayed on the first floor and had to trek up the steep stairs to the fourth for the showers - but we were very happy with the cleanliness of the room and facilities - especially for this price!! The furniture in the room was adequate though everything was somewhat worn - but clean. The room still had features from it's previous incarnation as a fine home - plaster ornamentation. The English breakfast was great - lots of good food. Staff were very helpful. Convenient location for underground, train and the Big Bus route! My daughter and I would definitely recommend this hotel - definitely best value for money
Nice hotel situated near Victoria station. The street is calm at night but the floors creak a bit!
English breakfast is included in the price and the staff is friendly. The room are nice and clean, the bathrooms are rather small. Note there is no lift in the building.
Nice hotel in a great location for train/undergrounder users
We spent a week in the hotel in May 2003. It is close to Victoria Station, walking distance of the Tate and many nice restaurants, clean, moderately priced. We had a room with a bath closet on the 3rd floor. The steps are steep and getting our luggage up was a hassle, but once it's there, it must easier getting it down. For the traveler who is out and about all day and is only using the room for sleeping, it is a great value. We will stay there again on our next visit.
Comfortable and Convenient
This is a great choice for the budget traveler in London. It is a five minutes walk from Victoria Station (or pay 6gbp by taxi). It's a bit scruffy around the edges but it's clean and the staff is friendly. I stayed in a room with shower/toilet and also another time in one of the student rooms. Both were good values, but it is a loooong trek to the top of the building where the student rooms are - the high ceilings are charming but make for quite a lot of stairs! I look forward to staying here again next time I am in London.
Stayed here in April 2003 (twin with ensuite) and March 2004 (economy single - sink only - shared bathroom).Comfortable stay on both occasions. Both rooms were in the lower priced categories situated near the top of the hotel. Lots of stairs as indicated on the website and booking confirmation. Rooms were sparce but clean. Beds were very comfortable. Room at the back was extremely quiet. Room at the front had some street noise which wasn't bothersome.Good breakfast - cold and hot offered. Excellent location!! Close to Victoria Coach Station and Victoria Train Station (underground stop). Good variety of reasonably priced restaurants within a 2 to 5 minute walk from the hotel. Two grocery stores also in the area.Really good value for the price.
My family spent a week at the Georgian House(Dec. 2003) and were very pleased with our accomodations. We needed a quad room which we found in our searching to be harder to acquire in London. The room was clean with the beds being made and clean towels left daily. The bathroom and room were small by American standards but functional and inviting. The breakfast was delicious and fast. The staff was helpful and friendly giving us sight seeing advice and letting us store luggage before check-in and after check-out. Our room was on the third floor and a bit of a climb with luggage. We only had to climb them once a day as we were off each morning sight-seeing until evening so it didn't bother us. There was some street noise but not enough to prevent sleep.
Good quality / price
small but clean rooms. nice english breakfast. good price. occupied two rooms, one on ground floor and other on 3rd floor, room on the ground floor was bigger and nicer - caution with the stairs, no elevators, and rooms until the 4th floor. close to transports.
One of the best in the area
For the first time visitor to London, most of the B&B's (economy hotels) are small by our American standards. And prices are high in London just as they are in many big European cities. With that said, if you are looking for great hotel in the budget/toursit class rating, than Georgian House is the place. I have been going to London once or twice a year for the past 5 years, always staying in this type of hotel. I have researched and stayed in a variety of properties in the area. Georgian had the best breakfast, a friendly and caring staff and clean rooms that were attended to daily. It is these 3 areas that set the property apart from the many B&B's lining the street. After staying here, there's no need to experiment anywhere else.
Georgian House B&B
My wife and I stayed at this B&B in May 2002. It is quite a bargain. Our room was less than $100 USD per night. The rooms are spartan, but clean. The bathroom is quite small, but functional. They have a full English Breakfast included with the room. And they do mean FULL. You will leave absolutely stuffed. The staff is very friendly and helpul. The location is about a 10 minute walk from Victoria Station, making it convenient for sightseeing. If you are looking for a cheap stay in London, I highly recommend the Georgian House.
