Ate under a pomegranate tree this morning. My hostel had an attached outdoor restaurant, so breakfast was served there. It was all well and good until I realized one of those fruits could fall at any moment and give me a concussion, the same way coconuts only fall on tourists in Malaysia.

A warm and wonderful evening.

Monday evening we took a cab to Long Beach and walked along the shore. It was a great evening, warm with a mild sea breeze.
We used more than two hours at the beach and watched a wonderful sunset. It seems as the sun is falling into the sea, the speed of the sunset is quite fantastic, and suddeny there is darkness.

If you stay in the dorm in the winter expect it to be cold. Since I sleep in an unheated alaskan tent for half the year I slept like a baby. Very nice atmosphere and terrace for drinking talking to the non-aussie turkish owner w/ a thick DownUnder accent. Putting in a nice restaurant soon which will add to the place. wifi in the terrace w/ nice breakfast no wifi access in the basement dorm,

    Great Place To Stay

After arriving at the bus station in Selcuk, Tom, the owner/operator met me and we walked through the parking lot, through the park and up the street to the "Boomerang Guest House". He led me into the courtyard of the outdoor restaurant and we began the process of getting me checked in. Though I had come in a day early, Tom said that they could accommodate me. The first night I would stay in a 10 bed dorm all by myself and the next day my private room would be ready. There in the courtyard are lots of eating areas and lounge chairs to enjoy the sun. At night they play music and serve alcoholic beverages. I noticed too that there was in bloom a Pomegranate tree. I had never seen one. (One day while I was sitting on the front porch, the housekeepers little girl, Alli came up to me and handed me half of hers. It was so good). While sitting there waiting for Tom to return, I ordered something to eat. Grilled meatballs. I didn't even know that you could grill meatballs. Yummy. After Tom came back, we walked over to the Guest House. Right from the start I liked the looks of it. Kind of Colonial looking from the outside. Upon entering, I notice that the reception area was a bit small with desk and some nice couches along the wall. Tom took my luggage and descended the steps into the large dorm. I settled in and then went out to explore my surroundings. I went up the two flights of stairs (Marble) to the lounge area. Here is where you can watch TV on a wide screen TV, listen to music, read or whatever. It is also where they have their "Buffet" breakfast of hard-boiled eggs, sliced tomatoes, olives, cucumbers, fruit fresh baked bread, tea and coffee. There is a little balcony area just outside where you can sit and relax. There is a cloths line that you can hang your wet items on. They do have a laundry service. Well maintained with housekeeping on duty until about 5, so if you need anything she can help. You will notice that Tom and Abdullah sometimes do a disappearing act throughout the day and that can be annoying if your expecting to see them sitting at the desk, NOT. Of course I was so busy during the day, that I hardly missed them, but they did seem to be around when I needed information. Tom will try and sell you the idea of hooking up with one of his Tours to Cappadocia and beyond. I decided against it. There is a little store at the top of the hill to purchase goodies like water, cookies, smokes and liquor if that is your thing. There is a handy ATM machine at the end of the street to get some more Liras. Along the avenue there are shops to visit. Really nice area to explore. Just down the street from the Guest House is a rather large park where you can order something to eat and drink. What is nice is the Bus Station right across the street. You can catch the little shuttle bus to Ephesus if you wish or you can walk. It is less than half a mile.
