a very well appointed guest house with a pool and spa. The ground of the facility are immaculate and Maarten and Carla are excellent hosts. I would highly recommend their gust house if you are in the area or traveling the garden route as we are.

... before we headed out to drive to Knysna, we took in the reason for staying in Swellendam. The Drosty Museum complex is a group of mainly original Cape Dutch buildings that have been maintained in their 17th and 18th century character. The displays of furniture and other donated items from the area make these buildings very interesting. There is not much else in the little town so we packed up our car and headed ...

When we arrived at Warmwaterberg, we spent the night in a 60’s style caravan - you have to see the photos! It was like travelling back in time, with the floral curtains and dated fittings! The seals in the windows were not quite as they used to be, however we put it down to natural ventilation. :)

We didn’t get into the hot baths until ...

So funny to see this little white-washed bar in the desert, in the middle of nowhere!

We read this about the history of the shop.

"Ronnie painted the name Ronnie's Shop on this cottage next to R62, planning to open a farm stall to sell fresh produce and fruit. His friends played a trick on him by changing the name to Ronnie's SEX Shop. Initially angry about the involuntary name ...

    Setting off again we
passed several old cottages which reminded me of Rabbie Burns
cottage. The difference here was that they were old fishermens
cottages. Driving on a bit further we then passed a few road signs
indicating beware of tortoise. Thats different. As we then drove on
    we heard an ...

... things away and left both the mattress and sleeping bag out to dry, I enjoyed a lovely hot shower. Dad was waking up when I returned complaining of a wet tent - the outside being wet! The birds really came out now and were certainly not weary of us flying around and settling on the camp chairs. The sun soon burnt the mist off.

We ventured out on an excellent short 8 km walk along the Breede River in the National Park, which dad really ...
