We just did an overnight stay here after traveling from Agulas the most southerly point in Africa. The Bloomestate was amazing. Had a very nice dinner @ the Koornlands retaurant which was excellant ( crocodile sashimi and Springbok .. yummy.. late this afternoon we headed to Mossel Bay

... Eastern Namibia. We went to visit her at her galley in Noordhoek and she gave us some pointers about visiting the tribe.


With everything almost ready, we embarked on a trial run. This I felt was an essential part of the preparation, and would allow us to find out how all the equipment worked and hopefully allow me the opportunity to photograph local Kingfishers.

We arrived in Hermanus safely (and I was bright-eyed after my doze). Hermanus is a popular alternative for shark diving but as we had already done this, the rest of the afternoon was spent walking along the cliff and enjoying the fresh sea air. We watched the sunset whilst perched on some isolated rocks.

I decided to take Route 62 to Cape Town and stay over at the "Warmwaterberg Spa" on a friend's recommendation. I have not slept in a caravan in 20 years. It is not expensive either and the spa water is around 40 Deg C. I stopped at Ronnie's Sex Shop just down the road. Really just a bar with a reputation, judging by the lingerie stapled to the ceiling. The scenery between Barrydale and Robertson is really pretty and a must ...

    fabulous guest house

    a very well appointed guest house with a pool and spa. The ground of the facility are immaculate and Maarten and Carla are excellent hosts. I would highly recommend their gust house if you are in the area or traveling the garden route as we are.
