A riverside adventure

Well what can I say about Kampot.. It's a lovely riverside setting with ageing french buildings from a 100 year colonial reign and a perfect base to explore the nearby caves and Bokor National Park!

This really was a little adventure, hiring out a couple of mopeds and heading into the hills to explore the rapids at Tek Chhouu Falls and …

I'm actually writing this in China, since it's been pointed out how slack I've been, both this trip and last at letting you all know about the pitfalls of my attempts at recent travel. The reason I didn't write anything in Cambodia wasn't because I didn't have anything to write.

OK, if I'm honest, there was an element of that but mostly …

Wednesday saw us travel to kampot, to our delight the journey was our shortest yet taking less than 2 hours to get there (however graham did get time to listen to the same olly murs song about 7 or 8 times!... Sorry mate had to be said!) Once we arrived we got dropped off we met fellow traveler Dani and the three of us decided not to take the easy …

Kampot!

A travel blog entry by arsenalalice

I arrived in Kampot with a place to stay in mind which was $2 a night. I was not sure whether I would be lucky enough to get a room there but they did indeed have a free bed in their dorm, which I was very pleased about. I took the bed and then rushed to meet Kerri-Lee outside the market where we had agreed. It was really good to see her again! We …

That's what I needed because I was crook from the flight over. Ryan the barman was more interested in literature and I'd probably stay at the Magic Sponge with William next door, next time. He's pernickity but you have to be in the guesthouse business. he 50c beers are a big attraction.

Very cheap yet shabby accommodation, with a slight gecko infestation.

This guesthouse is lovely, the garden and bar/eating area is also keep in very good order, if I had any moans it would be its a shame to let such a lovely building grow old and very tired when a lick of paint would make so much diffrence. The price is right for the area and once you hire a bike for $1 the town is your oyster.....Note the Free bikes are broken at Blissfull, not sure if they broke before the advert or after!
