This was a great place! Customer service was superb and the grounds were lovely, as was the food. But, it was a bit pricey to me for a week-long stay.

Day 2 Pretoria to Francistown

... afternoon, we’ve been on the road for twelve hours, the crew has become fractious. I have been made aware that I am being childishly miserable. My sociopolitical rumination and its war against home grown african nostalgia has been misinterpreted. When one is tired, its too much effort to explain why one might not be ritalinning around, sparking excitement about our great expedition. There are bound to be lows. I quietly stuffed groceries into the back of ...

Now I have got the bug to travel again and have identified some trips already - in fact I have booked a number already. These include a return to Kenya for the opening of the Mathioya River Lodges I co-own with my good friend and partner Zac Gichane. Additionally I will be traveling to my favorite place in South Africa - Cape Town. Mauritius also features heavily in my short term plans ...

... Once leaving the mall we stopped to visit a lovely 87 year old lady who is still on her own, drives her own car and is delightful. She is a good friend of Jannie's and neighbor as well. We got home around 7pm but we haven't managed to get through to British Airways to confirm our flight for tomorrow.

Jannie made up an exquisite fresh fruit salad serving it with Greek yogurt. Soooo tasty. It really hit the spot.

After our singing and dancing of the night before it was another early start. No showers today or tents to dismantle. There was a feeling of sadness as we loaded the trucks for the last time. 500km to Jo'burg over a mountain range which the truck will find difficult.
First stop was Blyde ...

... interesting. One parks in the rental car area, waves at security and walks the wrong way into the arrival area where the rental desks are. I found the man from Budget who walked back out with me and drove the car up to the departure level. While I unloaded the suitcases, he checked the car and gave me a form with the final cost on it.

After a two-hour wait in the airport, the Air Mauritius/South African Airways code share took off ...
