... day tools! We arrived back at the hotel about 6.30pm and had to get ready for dinner by 7.30pm. My hair has not been doing the right thing since having it cut in Florence so one of the ladies on the tour named Rosemary offered to do it for me with her hair straightener and it looked so much better. In between times I had a look at the ceramic shops there are some rather wonderful flower pots, they are of three heads two are a king and queen and a third is of a very swarthy Arab. According to one of the shop keepers the King and Queen beheaded the Arab and in turn they were beheaded. After a very nice night in the hotel with an excellent meal we set off early to see the 'Valley of the Temples', which is really odd name since the temples are set of a ridge? ... Nice to see chivalry still alive. The parents were in the middle of preparing lunch when we arrived. It was very interesting to see them prepare the meal, especially to see how sardine was cooked, a local delicacy. There were appetisers, prima plati (first plate) of pasta and rice, secondi plati and finished off with cafe.

I felt lucky and privileged to be part of the day-to-day Palermo social life, made my travel all the more special. ...
