... direct route and took the old, spectacular route on SH 16 through Medina. It's slow going on the narrow mountain road but the views are worth the extra time. Don't even think about pulling over for a photo op.

We stopped briefly to visit and old friend who owns Brick's River Cafe in Bandera and upon his recommendation stopped by Arkey Blue's Silver Dollar Saloon, one of the more colorful spots in the "Cowboy Capitol of Texas."
