We were delighted to land in Fiji and find it sunny and still really warm even though it was 5pm. A much needed injection of heat after the month in chilly New Zealand!
When we booked our flights back in November 2008, the travel agent lady told us that a week in Fiji would be a nice holiday for us because, even though we wouldn't have exactly be working hard for the previous 4 ½ months, it can get pretty tiring constantly moving from one place to another, trying to make sure you see ...
Bula! That appears to be Fijian for "Hello tourist!" We may just not have noticed, but the locals never seemed to say it to each other. Still, Bula, if you like. We were only to be in Fiji for a week, but our evening arrival dictated that we ought really to spend the first night in Nadi (pronounced Nandi, somehow), before moving along to the Coral Coast, home of beaches, palm trees and not a right lot else. We'd been told that Nadi wasn't really worth hanging around in, and that did seem to b...
Viti Levu, Fiji jacobandkirstyToday will be me unluckiest day forever. What all happened today, it's unbelievable and also inexplicable. In the end I missed my flight after my shuttle bus had an accident just 10m from my pick up point away. (Lucky or unlucky that I don’t sit in the bus will be a question for the future) I had to wait 7hours for my other flight to Fiji. I had also a few problems with the Immigration of Fiji, because I don’t booked anything in advanced. So after another 1.5h in the small office ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji jean-claudeSo after I get up, I booked all my things to visit the Yasawa Islands. I bought also a pair of new Flip-flops and some swimming gears... The rest of the day I stayed in my room and prepared me for 14 Days Islands without any hot water........
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji jean-claudeToday it was just waiting for the transfer boat and lying in the hang mat the only activities what I've done. On the main island I took first a hot shower and then I prepared my staff for my flight back to Australia.
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji jean-claudeHey all Again sorry about the lack of writing. I have recently been on an island off the south coast of Fiji called Robinson Crusoe Island. Firstly we arrived in Fiji and were welcomed at the airport by guitars and tropical shirts, (just like the movies). We then got a lift to Beach escape villas just outside Nadi (second largest city in Fiji) There was not alot to do in Nadi, some small shops and a couple of tourist information places. We mainly stayed in the resort as it had a nice swimming...

... NZ.Swimming pools and sunshine the main difference. Drinks are served to you at your table and there is a wide selection of cocktails. Seemed to be a bit pricey for the drinks but never mind. Only spent one night here and met a couple of people in the dorm.

The next morning it was glorious, up early and sunbathed by the pool. By about 11:00am it felt like 3 in the ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji iandanderson... with Manta Rays and a little more luxury such as hot water showers! However we saw what we never expected in Fiji..........rain! The heavens opened and clouds rolled in. The rain stopped for about an hour which allowed Rob to go Manta Ray swimming. The thought of open ocean and creatures of the sea was not ideal for Beckie so she stayed with our new friends and sampled some local wines! Weather conditions were not ideal, however under the ocean didnt matter. Snorkelling ...

Iles Fiji, Fiji sabaustralisim... beach as well, where the snorkelling was also great. In the evening, we had cava and enjoyed pina coladas while eating our dinner. Then, on Tuesday, after a tonne of rain at night, the sky was blue all day again, and we walked up a hill to see the island better. We also got demos on opening coconut and making baskets from coconut leaves (a real, live ...
Drawaqa, Yasawa Islands, Fiji alyttle... cinder block walls and corrugated metal roofs. When we arrived at the resort, we simply dropped stuff off in our rooms and went to dinner at one of the four restaurants located on the resort. It wasn't until the next morning that we discovered that we were right on the Pacific. Breakfast was served in an open-air restaurant that we shared with the many Mynah birds that frequented the area. Afterwards, we joined our local guide, Simon, for this portion of the trip ...
