... man approached us in the square with a cantene and asked if we'd like to purchase some amarretto hot chocolate that he would mix in front of us. We all looked at eachother amused by the offer. Aurora agreed to try some. He then poured the hot milk into a plastic cup then mixed in chocolate and some amarretto. She said it tasted amazing. I tried it but it singed my lips and tongue, it was so hot. We began to chat with the guy and get his back story. He was from Sweden and ...
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands hippietraveler... and bundled up again at lightening speed. The 4 corners of the blanket are joined by a piece of rope so when they see the police they can just pull it all up over their shoulder and make a run for it. It is quite funny to see actually.
We have noticed that there are bikes sitting around the place, free for anyone to use. So the plan is to get around on them for a while tomorrow. Be nice to have a little picnic somewhere!
... was easy, and the flight was uneventful. The Barcelona airport, by the way, is like an upscale mall. Shops lining the walkways, LCD T.V.s telling people where to go, golf-cart escorts for those with difficulty walking, and general cleanliness that we do not see in every airport! Our hotel had the room ready within 15 minutes of our early arrival, and they ...
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain pageckrakerDH went to the conference today. The kids and I walked all the way down La Rambla to the Maritime Museum; it was DS's choice for something to do. The museum was very cool. It cost 9.75 euros for the three of us (DS was free). Entrance included audio guides for DD and I (they said DS was too young at the age of 8...which seems ridiculous to me). I shared mine with him, and then ended up just giving it to him after ...
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands kitkatgoI'm baaack! I told you it would be a long time til you got updates from spring break...I don't kid about these things. So because it has been such a long time since I've updated (and I'm kind of lazy) the last leg of the trip (Bacelona, Madrid, and Rome) gets lumped into one massive blog entry. Read on if you dare...this is gonna be a long one. Barcelona So first off- MY CAMERA MIRACULOUSLY CAME BACK TO LIFE (apparently it liked Barcelona better than Austria.) After our somewhat stressful ...
Barcelona, Spain and Canary Islands milesg... at tourist information again about now specifically the train service to Barcelona. Yeah it is free with the card BUT the train is not running. In the interim, a bus has taken its place. After some navigating I get to the "train station" where this woman keeps asking me what station I want to go to. All I respond is centrum. I really don't care where I arrive as long it's at city center. She guides me to a bus already waiting. I drop Big Red down and make myself comfortable ...
Barcelona, Spain kasia-waw... a quiet night at the hostel relaxing and shooting the breeze with Joe Traveler from Anywhereville, I´ve seen, experienced and learned so much while living here. I not only had the best job at the hostel but maybe one of the best jobs in the world. Every night my only agenda was to serve drinks for a few hours which was easy as can be. The bonus of the job was I got to interact with so many different people from so many different places ...
Barcelona, Spain jtpharr... the predicted date of completion is 2030. It´s not too often one is able to tour a construction site, but climbing the 300 odd claustrophobic stone stairs to the top of one of the actually completed towers is unbelievable. The detail that exists in every square inch of the structure, from the door handles, to the carvings and gargoyles, is indescribable. To end the day we decided to go natural, to the Parc Guell, a city park designed by Gaudi. The ...

Well I am off to the beach now to see if I can get a bit of a tan, but I might have to use a bit of sun screen, the sun at this time is a bit bad from now until abut 9 when it starts to go down. I never had imagined that I would be sun baking at 8 at night. Catch yas later. Daz
