    ... Dynasty, describing the Lijang River which winds its way from Guilin to Yangshuo.
    The karst landscape, the stuff of Chinese paintings, was once a sea and left these limestone mountains jutting out, which have been weathered into strange but beautiful shapes.
    Today was the day we were off to see the landscape of the "AAAAA" tourist ...

    ... teachers from the college....but we are just wandering where they are? We headed back out in search of a nice cup of tea, we sat in a pretty
    cafe and a middle aged couple said to us ''I guess your English?'' I replied ''What gave i away?'' We had such a lovely long chat with them for about an hour, it was so nice and I really needed it tonight, it was like a little slice of home...even if they were Aussies! Afterwards we wandered back...still nobody in the room.

    The far views of the karst mountains were terrific. Vivienne took us through some quiet countryside and gave us lots of opportunity to take pictures and wander along river banks. At one point there were three old ladies - two claimed to be over 80 and the third not far behind. As they saw us approaching they leapt to their feet and made out they were working the old irrigation ...

    ... to kitschy overdeveloped sites which blighted the spectacular mountainsides. The town itself was completely overrun and left me a little wide eyed and bewildered. I had a vague idea of where I was going to go, I had a leaflet which a rough map on the back for a place in the city.
