... I could ask his name. He was the only non-Chinese I had seen in three days. Feeling full and much better about Guilin I returned back to my hotel to pack, and room in Yangshuo, my next destination. There are several ways to get from Guilin to Yangshuo, I opted for a small riverboat cruse along the Li River. A bus picked me and several other tourists ( both Chinese and not) from our respective heel and traveled about 45minutes to the river bank. On the way we sang songs in ...

The next day was all day travel to the Perhentian Islands in Malaysia which I had never heard of. We are only going here as we had a week to burn due to my China visa issue. ... cultural experiences to write home about. There are opportunities to partake in cooking classes, take Tai Chi, and see a light performance on the lake in the evening. The Lake show was fascinating with all the colored lights and the unison of the hundreds of performers all the same height! It was crazy seeing around 300 actors identical height forming rows and dancing in complete unison. The synchronization was picture perfect. Combining ...

... first story was that it was because a very senior Chinese official was in town. And we did see a very impressive convoy go past. About a dozen police cars with sirens blaring, accompanied a shiny black stretch limo and a convoy of upmarket cars and 4 wheel drive vehicles. This was reminiscent of the fanfare that accompanies African leaders like Banda and Mugabe. Later we were told that the Li River was flowing too strongly as a result ...
