    Three nights in Trat

I stayed in the Baanrimnam Resort for 3 nights. I had originally intended to only stay one night and head on into Cambodia the following day. But Trat was far more interesting than I had anticipated and Baanrimnam was a very easy place to rest for a couple of days, recovering from the trip and from the last year of work.

The woman who owns and operates the place is a retired local school teacher. Her English is quite good and she was simply wonderful to me.

... I replied, "no thank you" and then 3) she poured dark thick syrupy coffee (made from instant grounds) into a plastic bag with ice, tied it up, but in a box and said "Here you go!". Needless to say, it needed a lot of 'sugah' and I didn't end up drinking mine. Doug had lots of sugar put into his and managed to finish it.

... other island or beach choices. The island has a nice vibe to it. My hotel was just so so. A lot of the hotels are of the individual huts or bungalow type on Koh Chang. Mine was just that. The bungalow was nice, except for the water pressure issue, basically there wasn't any for the shower. The toilet and sink were fine. The other problem was the lack of anybody at a reception desk. Usually when checking ...

... it's finally time to go get food. We try the sawasdee italian and thai food shop as Leah wants a noodle soup and I want a lasagne. They're not doing thai food today and there's only two tables, and the people in there are staring at us like we're mad We jog on to the lonely beach resort that claims its lasagne is a house special. It has a fairly danish/english feel about the place, but unfortunately smells a bit, and the music from across the road is clashing with what ...

... Mains were green and red curry and puddings sticky rice and bananas in coconut milk. The dishes were surprisingly easy to make even if I had never heard of half of the ingredients.

December 13th - The last day of our adventure with Dan and Sam and rather unsurprisingly most of it was spent in the bar. We were good during the day, I even managed a fruit salad for lunch. In the evening we had civilised drinks at a beach bar at sunset. It was all very pleasant ...
