... way. I will also mention at this point that there was a lot of construction going on around Montreal, which perhaps also detracted from the niceness of that part of the city as it was loud and dirty in places, which which I was not really expecting. Anyway, up on Mont Royale, everything was much quieter and far more peaceful - I even managed to find myself on a path that didn't look like it was used often, and no one else was around, so that was a bit ...

On Friday morning, 15th of May Matt and I flew to Montreal. We arrived at the hotel around 11am and were told if we were willing to wait a bit we could get upgraded to a "Junior suite"… Not wanting to miss out we decided to find a place to have brunch while we waited. ... had read in the lonely planet guide that Montreal's China town has amazing dumplings. Unfortunately I left the book at the hotel so I decided to wing it. Bad move. When we got to China town, it was like a demolition site. The ground was all ripped up with exposed pipes, there were sort of ramps into the shops and there were people everywhere. I sort of remembered the address of one place I wanted, but it was nowhere to be found. The ...

    ... novelty.

After a week in Montreal with friends, I headed west to Vancouver for a few days. Everyone I had spoken to about my exchange in Canada had asserted that I must visit Vancouver. I arrived with high expectations of the city and was not disappointed. Surrounded by mountains and beaches, the city is spectacularly beautiful and the epitome of the Canada that is advertised in travel brochures. The few days that I had in Vancouver were ...
