2 hours in Monaco

ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.

Nice

I know I always write the same...great weather, such a nice city, good food....but I have to say that Nice was a (very) big surprise for me, I can say that it is my favourite city in Europe (ok, number 2 after Lisbon). You have the mountains, the Cote dŽAzur (when you see the water you know why the name is Cote dŽAzur), the market with fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, oil, soap, you have great restaurants ...

It is less than 4 weeks now until I leave. There is much to do. I am trying to prepare myself for "teaching" 20 - 25 children. A bit of a challenge that. Much as I have known that I have always wanted to do something like this, now that it ...

Boring drive day so here is life in Scooby

... about a dog... Toilet time It is amazing how toilet dramas/stories are always a hot topic of conversation amongst travelers. I feel a little empty this time round as we have averted the problem as we have a Thetford cassette Porta Potti. Called "Theo"... We started out thinking would only use him in emergency situations but with the scarcity of public loos in France and more so in Italy means he is getting a lot more use than first planned. These loos are easy to empty and ...

... curly so it really isn't surprising that accidents are a regular occurrence.

Monaco is the world's second smallest country (after Vatican City) less than 2 square km, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in decadence! Streets are manicured, lavish hotels and casinos line the waterfront, and the harbour is chock a block with gigantic, plush boats.

Once we arrived we visited the Palais du Prince (or ...

... and Cannes. Dani was pumped for Cannes as this is where they hold THE Cannes film festival. Unfortunately, just as our luck would have it, the train we took was delayed by almost 2 hours, and we still don't know why. So it took us much longer to get to our first stop on our journey which was Antibes. We had been recommended to have some lunch there and apparently they have an awesome market. However thanks to the aforementioned delay, and our silly Dubcheck moves which will be revealed ...

Relaxing in Cote d Azur (French Riviera)

... public beach (free) and a private beach exclusive to hotels for their guests. We spent the rest of the day on the beach, which was mainly populated by senior citizens. At night, we went for a walk along the boulevard where the majority of restaurants, bars and cafes are and had dinner in of the restaurants. Most of the restaurants had the same menu comprising of pizza, pasta and omelets.

What stinks?

(S) Grasse - perfume capital of the world. Who knew? Not me obviously, but luckily my travel partner is fluent in all things perfume related - too bad he doesn't use any himself. Ok, just kidding. We wandered around and did a tour of one of a perfume plant. Pretty interesting. The most notable thing that happened on this trip ...

First Day of School

Hey every one, I've been here in Monaco for about 2 weeks now and I have loved every minute of it. The scenery is amazing and the food is good. Some of the boats that come into harbor are HUGE!! and it's nice because the port is right down the street from my school so I can go down and look at them when ever I want. Pictures will be coming soon so don't worry ...

On Friday afternoon I made a call to the wild for a signal that I should stay on in France, and godammit, I got one. On a visit to Monaco in the days to the lead up of the Monaco Grand Prix, I walked the docks of millionaires and got talking the the Australian skipper of 'Basic Logic', a 65 foot Swan design charter yacht. No big deal at all accept ...
