... the train roll (riding in windschatten) and make a good pace. We were fueled by delicious pears and apples from the old trees besides the channel.
At some point we (we as in Stef) even had to climb a tree to get down some really good looking apples.

We followed the channel until the "Plan d' Eau". A really big, lakey reservoir where it's forbidden to camp.

Over the weekend, we visited several of the local villages, including Ribeauville and Kayserberg, in addition to the old town of Colmar with its canals and centuries-old buildings. We also made it a point to sample as much of the local Alsacian cuisine as we could in the few days we had ...

... what's new there?) but there is talk of Switzerland if only for a drive through, so close to the border and Basle are we. But before we do that I'd have to check internet and Swiss driving rules. I know it's lights on as a law but if it's snow chains too then we can't risk it. We can't afford a haircut in Switzerland, let alone a fine. And if it isn't Switzerland, it's Bavaria, or somewhere I don't even know the name of yet. Maybe I can find a place beginning with ...
