First day in Bangkok
Feb 9, 2008

We arrived in Bangkok colected the luggage and went outside to get a taxi to our hostel. We showed them the adress and told us it was 500 bart, the equivilent of 8 pounds. For the distance it was amazing value and we took in some of the sights, the roads are always busy any tiume and it seems cloudy although it is only the layer oof smog above b...

Market
Feb 11, 2008

Counting down the days in bangkok we decided to try out the Bankok weekend market. We took a free bus from the hostel at 10am to market, it was massive, cheap everything you could think of but i didnt appreciate the smell. We bought some sunglasses each a few cool t-shirts, i got some calvin klein boxers at ridicolously cheap prices. Me and Jony...

...Unfortunately, we didn't see many. Although one served us a KFC and we were offered the opportunity to ogle others behind closed doors. Needless to say, these chances were flatly turned down. It was also unfortunate that by arriving in Bangkok via plane, we had broken our 2 and a half months of overland travel all the way from Moscow to the s...

Faffin about in bangkok
Jun 15, 2008

Got up about 2 o'clock (wrecked fromflights yesterday) and went for a run. Might have got a half a mile done before we were dying. Heat was brutal and could hardly breath. It was a light jog back to base after that and into the pool to cool off for about 2 hours! Headed down into city in evening. Got train into new city and then a crazy tuk tuk ...

Bit of dandering
Jun 15, 2008

Well again. Just been for a dander about the town and for several more beers - some nice barmaids about the bars here (wink wink, know what i mean!!)!! Had to write this in now or we'll forget about it. On the way back from bar, met an elephant crossing the road! There were two dudes with him and one inticing him with a tray of fruit over the ro...

Still horsin about
Jun 16, 2008 (3 photos)

Went on an aul boat ride today. Tried to get a good view of city and decide on further excursions but have been so tired since we got here and got fed up and just headed back up towards place we were staying. Heat is brutal and in all the tourist areas, guys in taxis and tuk tuks come up to you flat out looking for business. No peace at all. End...

Bangkok lady boys!
Dec 3, 2007 (5 photos)

We had to endure the worst road of the trip before entering Thailand - a sand swept, potholed road the width of a motorway and in the boiling heat in a bus without air con for 6 hours. Apparently Bangkok Airways pay money to the Cambodian government not to resurface the road so they get more revenue from flights and retain their monopoly on the ...

Bangkok
Jun 15, 2008

After our flight over to Bangkok we trundled slowly towards our guest house - the taxi driver had no real idea to go and had to keep stopping to ask people!! Finally we arrived and headed up to our room - we had booked a twin with fan as it was the only thing available through the website but on arrival for an extra 100 baht a night (1.50) we ma...

What's wat
May 17, 2005 (5 photos)

Yey, finally escaped India! Arrived in Bangkok Friday 13 May with no mishaps - actually even a plane-crash would have been preferable to spending another day in India. Asha Guest House is lovely, it's in a Thai area well away from the Westernised Khao San Road, with a small pool and terrace, TV area, restaurant, koi carp pool - a veritable haven...

Oh my god how faffy is the traveling!
Jun 27, 2008

OH MY GOD!!!! The return trip was worse than getting there! arghhhhhhhh! Time for a bit of a rant: We got chucked out of the resort in Ko Tao at 10am (funnily enough the woman who had no social skills was there and said to Kev "You checking out? Good, now Go!" - no goodbyes, no thanks, no normal formalities....) - our boat wasn't until 2:30 pm. ...
