... down the stairs, we had the opportunity to take many pictures in front of it as well.
The only downside was the fact that even after being in my dry semi warm clothes, they were now damp again, and not as warm from the spray of the waterfall. But it was so worth it. We stayed there for about a half hour taking in the beauty of it, before getting back on to the bus that was now beginning to smell because of all the damp people and their belongings.

... new thing to see it in person rather than just on some presentation in class or reading from a textbook. I felt like I walked into the past, which is something I've never felt so strongly. You can see in the pictures the grandeur of the tombs, but it's nothing near walking down and seeing it in person.

... to see the tombs is by going underground. Here we saw the tombs of the ancient king Philip II and Alexander IV who was assassinated at a young age by his uncle. We were all infatuated by this site. In the tumulus you can not take any pictures, so I am not able to share the full experience if what I saw. The tombs were very big and beautiful, and being beside the actual tomb of both Philip II and Alexander the Great was pretty spectacular.

... a small gold box (which wound up weighing 8 kilograms, almost 20 pounds, and twice as much as my suitcase weighed when we arrived in Istanbul). The small box was placed in a two-room marble grave. One room contained the body and Philip's ornate, pure-gold crown, as well as the body of his seventh wife.
