... those hills. Torture! Livigno is an interesting town. It was suffering from poverty so they decided to compensate for its isolation in a little pocket of Italy near Switzerland by making it a tax free zone. So we wandered the streets when we arrived and looked at the high class duty free stores. ... quite special. However, as they say, **** HAPPENS, and I
ended up having a blow out in my rear tyre. So the cycle tour ended up as a
walk with bike to push.
We walked to the next village of Cellerina where we found a
cycle shop. Since the repair would have taken a couple of hours we decided to
catch a bus home.
The weather being reasonable ...
... were able to warm up with a pot of Peppermint Tea and a bowl of tomato
soup. Awesome………… Bad luck though, we still needed to walk another 14 odd kms
to reach the village of Spinas where we boarded the train for home.
All in all a 24km walk that took us all of 8 and a half
hours, two blisters and sore legs made it a day to remember.
Needless to say it wasn’t too difficult to get to sleep that
... as they were kind enough to allow us to use
the cable car to get to the top of the mountain first.
As always the scenery was stunning and even though we were
treated to a few drops of rain the excursion was great.
The afternoon was spent watching Stef hard at work teaching
people to kiteboard after which we did some shopping before going for supper at
... and I was, for some reason, upgraded
to Business Class for the second leg of the trip. Being upgraded to Business
Class is like winning the jackpot. The service is fantastic with champagne,
quality food on proper plates and a seat that transforms into a proper bed at
the touch of a button. HEAVEN………….
